British & Canadian Tourists NATALIE JADE SEYMOUR & ABBEY GAIL AMISOLA Die From Drug Overdose in Kampot, Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I thought that sounded crazy but it seems it's true:

This makes the most sense out of all the theories so far.

Very sad story and it reminds me of when I got sick and had similar symptoms when I was in Cambodia back in 2014. I believe it was due to food I ate (BBQ Squid on the beach..). I was fine until the next day when I started having bad stomach cramps. Eventually I started to have heat flashes and began vomiting having diarrhea. I went back to my hotel, took a shower and went straight to bed. It passed the next day (the day I had to fly back home). I figured it was a quick 24 hour bug but after coming back home to Canada, it hit me again and I was probably sick for a good 4-5 days. Fortunately, nothing happened during my flight (This was during the Ebola outbreak, so people were paranoid).

I was down there with my wife and her parents (her parents are natives) and they had suggested I go to the hospital to get checked out, but I tried to play tough and refused.

If they had some severe food poisoning like I had, and no plans to leave the country the very next day, I can totally see them looking for some quick relief via medicine from a pharmacy, or fellow travelers who may have offered "pills" to help relieve them of the pain.

made it to the NY post
https://nypost.com/2017/11/15/backpacke ... harmacist/
A British backpacker and her pal were found dead in a Cambodian hostel, after taking drugs given to them by a local pharmacist for food poisoning, authorities said.
Seymour and her Canadian friend Abbey Gail Amisola, 27, are believed to have died after overdosing on tablets they bought at a local pharmacy, authorities said.
BUT why would someone go to a pharmacy an ask for pills for their aliments and i am sure the pharmacists told them how many to take an, they took more??

why on so many threads on this forum are their mor equestions than answers and seldom follow up reports?

It's entirely possible, even probable, that they asked for a medicine by name...Immodium is pretty famous

The vast majority of people do not read package inserts, much less follow them

re your question on this forum...yawn.

Because we're keyboard warriors who don't know anything and just speculate about stuff and then argue with each other about our speculations?

 in Cambodia there are never any answers to most barang deaths 95%are classed as heart attacks and in this case drug overdose.Unless the Cambodia government starts to the fund the police and other authoritys adequately to investigate deaths this problem will remain. Most families cannot afford the fare home for a dead body so they are lucky to get a casket of ashes.Until Cambodia joins the 21st century forums like this is the best you have for answers.

Why would there be a "casket of ashes"? When a body is cremated, isn't it left in the casket? Wouldn't the casket turn to ashes too? Wouldn't the family get an urn of ashes or a container of ashes?
