British Jake David Taylor dies in 'Wish You Were Here Guesthouse' Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

@LT: Sorry for the family. It is possible that you will never know the real cause of death, but there will always be speculation here when someone dies so young in Cambodia, because of so many young people that seem to be dying of drugs at the moment. It is hard for you to hear this, but it needs to be said in order to warn others. It is especially important that people who don't usually take hard drugs do not think that Cambodia is a good place to have that once in a life-time experience. Too many young people have been dying lately and something needs to be said.

Please don't take this badly, LT. This is not a personal reflection on your nephew.

I'm sure he was a lovely person and you will all miss him. He may or may not have made a mistake that cost him his life, but he will always remain a special person to you all and the cause of death doesn't change who he was. RIP, and my sincere sympathies to his family and friends.

Condolences to Jake Taylor's friends and family.

So, as of now the cause of death still hasn't been established yet?

If it's really not related to drugs, this unfortunate death gets added to the long list of mysterious deaths of young people in Cambodia from "heart attacks."

General Mackevili, I've received a PM from friends of the deceased requesting I remove the URL link in my OP, however I seem unable to edit my post. Could we remove the link for them?

That link is quite gruesome :(

I feel so sorry for the families each time a foreigner dies. We lost my brother while he was overseas competing in the World Masters Games in Hungary a few years ago. He was a kayaker - he collapsed a few hours after his race and died instantly.
It's the most traumatic thing for the family.

It would be good if posters were given more time to edit their posts seeing as we don't seem to have 24h modding at the moment.

Also, is there no way one can link to the articles whilst blocking the gruesome photos?

I'm starting to think the General was right all along when he was refusing to put links in the CEO news. I was one of the one's that disagreed with him. I've come round to his way of thinking now.
