"Online gambling is a most dangerous tumor in modern society, detested by people all across the world," China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told reporters last week when asked about online gaming in the Philippines and Cambodia.
Why limit to online? Bricks and mortar not as pervasive?

So Duterte understands that an immediate cessation of online operations would severely and shockingly impact the economy. He stands his ground on continuing operations.

Whoever in Cambodia with direct or indirect interests in the online casino business have about 3 months to make their moves. Time for airlines to snatch up ticket sales to Manila!

A high ranking source had joking mentioned that casinos could be converted into language schools! The irony of it.

HE issues ultimatum to end online gambling by end of the year

Prime Minister HE has ordered authorities to end all online and arcade gambling in the Kingdom by the end of this year in a bid to safeguard security and public order.

According to a statement released by Council of Minister on Friday, Mr HE has ordered an end to all kinds of online gambling in the country, saying Cambodia would not depend on income from it.

“All kinds of online and arcade gambling in the Kingdom are illegal and that it must end all these businesses by the end of 2019,” it said. “Samdech Prime Minister said that Cambodia needed to develop the country base on natural and cultural heritage tourisms but not based on an income from online gambling.”

Mr HE last week signed a directive to ban all online and arcade gambling in the Kingdom. He noted that some licensed online gambling operations rigged their games and threatened those who are not able to repay their gambling debt.

The Chinese government also has expressed support for Cambodia’s decision to ban all online and arcade gambling, saying China stands ready to work with Cambodia to take effective measures to deepen law enforcement.

Would l be right in thinking most of the online gambling casinos in Sihanoukville didn't see this coming. Most thinking their yearly online licence would go on being renewed longterm.

You can bet the backroom boys are crunching the numbers and it doesn't look pretty.

Do they cut and run or pray the punters turn up from China to keep them afloat.

Phnom Penh has two casinos with a third being planned. These casinos don't have online gambling and are going well. Sihanoukville thinks it can sustain 50-100 casinos!!!!!!

The game has changed and its going to be interesting to see which casinos survive in the long term.

I wonder what 'arcade' means? Fishing machines, slots, computer poker and baccarrat machines?

Maybe it's a move to force tourism into Sihanoukville, I know there's alot of webcam gambling out of China, where they attach a body cam on some monkey who goes in n plays the games as directed by the money man in China... Not sure if that's seen as online gambling... maybe the spirits of sukky pass, present and future visited the powers that be n this is a last ditch effort for redemption
