Bolivian Woman in 4 Kilo Cocaine Bust at Phnom Penh Airport
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Police from the Anti-Drug Department discovered more than 4 kilograms of drugs coming into Cambodia from Brazil, when they searched a Bolivian woman on September 10, 2023 at 17:45, at the arrival point of Phnom Penh International Airport.
As a result, the Cambodian police arrested the suspect named as 36-year-old KAREN CECIA LOPEZ VACA, female, traveling on a Bolivian passport, and seized 4,356 grams of cocaine from her luggage.
The operation was organized by the Anti-Drug Department and coordinated by Mr. Vong Savath, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, in collaboration with the General Department of Immigration and the General Department of Customs and Excise at Phnom Penh International Airport.
The woman had flown from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil via Dubai to Malaysia, and then traveled on to Phnom Penh International Airport on Malaysian Airlines flight MH762.

In Malaysia she would have been hanged. In Cambodia she will rot in prison. Unfortunately this story will not stop future deliveries by mules. Throwing away a life for probably less than 10K.
work is for people who cant find truffles

There's a video floating around on facebook that showed that at least some of it was stuffed inside her bras. As in the bras had been previously opened, removed the padding, stuffed the packs inside and sewed it all shut. Pretty smart and sophisticatedJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 4:23 pmStitched into a duvet or into clothing it looks likeCEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 3:44 pm

do you think the police were tipped off or just a random search? i never been stopped entering PP Airport. Also, the person that was supposed to get the product is actually in PP?

Not sure 100%, but I would say that it wasn't a complete coincidence that there were a lot of higher-ups (Chief of dis and dat) that just happened to have taken credit for this.
Also, each "successful" large coke bust in Cambodia seems to come by air from Brazil via Dubai etc...

Remember that the authorities in most countries receive passenger lists in advance of the flight arrival showing details such as nationality and where the passenger has travelled from, so if this was a through ticket this would flag up straight away.
Even if not a through ticket, anyone with a S American passport that shows leaving S America in the last few days, immigration are going to ask why she came, what she is doing here and she will get searched. It's not rocket science.

Maybe, maybe not. She's relatively lucky to be caught here & not Malaysia. Relatively. . .
