Re: Bolivian Woman in 4 Kilo Cocaine Bust at Phnom Penh Airport
I've been pulled at Perth Airport a couple of times, one occasion returning after I shattered my ulna in Phnom Penh. At the time I had a flight booked to Bangkok as well as another to Hanoi in the days ahead - these on top of the last minute flight to Australia. When I asked the interrogating ABF officer why I'd been singled out, he said due to irregular travel. That made me believe that perhaps the Australian Border Force, or immigration, may not only have access to passenger lists of flights entering Australia, but also any flights Australian citizens might be booked to fly on.

She did take a lot of extra risk going through Malaysia.. maybe the final goal was to go even further although I would have thought a stop in Bangkok would have suited this situation better.
All I know is that with most drugs Australia is the final goal or rather the one where the product against its maximum value.
A kg of coke can be had for $2k in south America.. just getting it into the states raises is value tenfold. Get it to Europe and it's worth considerably more again. Bali is the last traditional stop of en route to Australia if that's the master plan.

Please don't confuse my personality with my attitude. The former is me, the latter a reflection of you.

The avarage south-american woman (and even more bolivian) has no idea where Dubai, Malaysia or Phnom Penh is. And of course no idea what the consecuences would be to fly there. Pretty sure she even doesnt know you get hanged for it somewhere on this planet. And no way she would have been offered 10k for that !! Bolivia is the poorest country in south america,10k is about 3 years GBP !!

Europe ( Amsterdam) coke is noticeable cheaper than the states and from there it would go to Japan 15x or Oz>grumpygit wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 12:53 am She did take a lot of extra risk going through Malaysia.. maybe the final goal was to go even further although I would have thought a stop in Bangkok would have suited this situation better.

That depends . I think ( never been dead before but ) I would rather be put to death than spend my life in jailJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:49 pmMaybe, maybe not. She's relatively lucky to be caught here & not Malaysia. Relatively. . .

I've only had my bags searched once by US Customs in maybe 30 entries. Due to a family bereavement, I had rescheduled a holiday to Costa Rica to only 4 weeks after I had returned from a holiday in Mexico traveling to/from UK via Houston both times. The immigration guy told me to go to a checking point in the immigration hall. I had taken copies of docs to prove the previous bookings etc and the Customs guy said the check was because their system had flagged up unusual travel activity to narco-related places.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:10 pmI've been pulled at Perth Airport a couple of times, one occasion returning after I shattered my ulna in Phnom Penh. I also once took the overnight train from Albuquerque to Los Angeles and then back to Albuquerque the following night. When I got off the train there were two police on the platform specifically looking for me as, again, these things flag up. Seems it is a regular drug-running trip, but they were happy enough that I just wanted to do coast to coast by train and was a bit short of time left on my holiday.

In the noughties I have had stuff in my luggage swab tested, I presume, searching for traces of coke and other furry rugs at various airportsBluenose wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:24 amI've only had my bags searched once by US Customs in maybe 30 entries. As in they opened various items of luggage and swabbed many different items inside
Fortunately I managed to avoid being caught by not being a drug mule

From another news article:
Department of Anti-Drug Offenses of the National Police after receiving classified information from the US Anti-Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DEA) and officials of the Brazilian Federation on September 10, 2023 at 17:45 Department of Crime Drugs assigned to Office (A1) and the General Department of Customs and Excise at Phnom Penh International Airport inspected the suitcases of suspects traveling from Rio, Brazil via Dubai, then changed in Malaysia and transfered to Phnom Penh International on flight MH762 from Malaysia.

Possibly but cocaine is popular among young well-heeled Cambodians and Thais.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 7:24 am Cambodia??? ONly if it was going to be passed off to another carrier to these other 2 countries>
