Black Powder Repository Exploded, Injures a Man
Kampong Speu: On January 27, at 08:50 pm there was explosion of black powder repository of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces of the Ministry of National Defense. A 55 year old military officer, Horm Sarith, got injured in the explosion while he was staying at the military school at behind Troyeung Market, Phnom Srouch District, Kampong Speu.
The competent authorities suspect that the explosion of the black powder repository, used for fire works, was due to the climate and environment.
According to the victim, before the incident he was staying at military school No.3, 400 metres from the scene, when he heard the explosion which caused the school to shake, then the roof fell in, injuring him accidentally.
Royal Gendarmerie Officers inspected the scene on January 28, and said there was some damage to equipment, 4 ingredients room and material and 9 office room in the building.

what do they use black powder for now? obsolete howitzers? can't imagine the need for it?
