Belgian Man Injured in Kandal Motorbike Accident

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Phnom Penh: LYly News wrote on social media: Thank you Dr. Bart Jacobs who sacrificed everything for Cambodia, please rest in peace.
He will return to his home soon, we will wait to receive his body for the traditional Khmer ceremony.

Below, I would like to summarize the work of Dr. Bart Jacobs in Cambodia.

Dr. Bart Jacobs was born in February 1967 in Vilvoorde, Belgium. He holds a PhD in Medical Sciences and first worked in Cambodia in April 2000 in Maung Russey District, Battambang Province, as a Public Health Advisor for Bridging Relief Aid for District Health System.

In 2001, he moved to Kirivong district, Takeo province, to strengthen the district health management team so that the poor and vulnerable could receive quality health care at minimal cost. He worked at the Kirivong OD Health Office, which covers four administrative districts, until 2007 in a project to strengthen the public health service system.

In 2007, Dr. Jacobs went to work in Laos, but he returned to Cambodia in 2013.
He will be missed. RIP.

I don't know but it sounds like a largely preventable death. RIP.

Yes, 20 years in the boonies making massive improvements to local health care is quite an achievement. A great loss.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
