At least it is a step up from calling it a Austin Garage.

Harley definitely junk. Ford a little better. Dont know about the others you mentioned, but when he mentioned the classic British motors I'm thinking of a lot of the junk produced in 1980s. To be fair many of those cars were victims of industrial sabatage done by discontented factory workers.

You pass a Morris Garages showroom on the way to the airport and every time I see it I always wonder why they use the full name and not the more notable acronym, MG. seems JB has provided the explanation lol.

Merlin are a great company.
All the others had their heyday, and that ended 50 or 60 years ago for Norton, BSA and Jaguar. Rolls royce was fucked all through the 90's too and only recovered when BMW took command. Jaguar haven't been good in my lifetime and they won't recover from being Pajetted by Tata Corp.

And why the Chinese thought it had brand value is another mystery.Freightdog wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 1:19 am The sad remnants of the MG rover group, split off and devoured. TATA got some of the rover bits, our Chinese brothers in arms allegedly carrying on the MG name, and BMW marketing the un-Mini.
The fact that there was anything that survived the years of BL is the biggest mystery.
