Barang Faints Outside Utopia in S'Ville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I doubt "lack of food" is the root reason.

Happens every year now, doesn't it? Like traffic accidents and heat stroke.
Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.

Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

He probably got a text message from his Khmer landlady telling him that his rent was increasing because of the Chinese invasion....In regards to the other guy in the photo, I just think that yellow wifebeater and red shorts is a fashion faux pas. Even in Shitsville.

Low blood sugar level (Hypoglycemia) could be reported as lack of food. Maybe he was diabetic although Hypoglycemia can also be brought on by excessive alcohol consumption.

Yes, and it is also possible that he had taken a lot of drugs and
a. didn't eat because the drugs suppressed his appetite, or
b. believed, in his drug induced state, that he was a Khmer female garment factory worker

[ In the Church Lady voice from Saturday Night Live ]

"Could it be ... from Satan?"
"Or could it be ... long-term heroine abuse?"
"Or could it be ... dehydration / malnutrition under prolonged meth abuse?"

(Only the first 35 seconds or so, the rest I don't know about. Good Church Lady intro, though.)

I thought nobody went into Utopia these days, it's always been dead when I've gone past. Used to be a thriving hub of crusties but after it closed for renovation everyone seems to have gone elsewhere.
