Authority found Borax in fresh water fish meatball
Phnom Penh: authority confiscated 11 kg of fresh water fish meatball from the seller in Canadia Park market located in Veng Sreng blv, Chom Choa commune, Posenchey district.
According to the source: the confiscation took place on 25 April 2015 after people reported that fish meatball seller in above market is allegedly selling fresh water fish meatball that contains chemical substance.
Result from the test showed that meatball contained borax. Therefore authority confiscated and destroyed it. Then seller was asked to sign on a letter for not to sell meatball that contains chemical substance.

Borax? Fish? Was it a pikey money-laundering scam?

Re: Authority found Borax in fresh water fish meatball
The use of borax as a preservative for meat/fish has been a concern here for years. I'll never forget seeing a TV news item where the police stopped a car that had come from Thailand. Every available space under the seats, behind door panels etc was stuffed with out of date and rotten meat products. Presumably these would be treated with all sorts of toxic chemicals and then end up on some hot-dog/meatball/etc stand somewhere on the streets.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Seriously, I would only feel more empowered to try.

I've been trying to find borax or Boric acid here in Cambo for a long time and they are putting it in fish ball? I should just go buy fish balls to get rid of my ant problem.
