Australian STEVE MORRISH Arrested in Phnom Penh for Breaking Japanese Man's Nose in Drunken Street Fight

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Morrish was a detective in the Victorian police force
Based in Footscray.
Footscray is one rough area,he would definitely know how to handle himself.

Some posters have suggested he was involved in some sort of police corruption.I cant find any evidence online to support these allegations.
If he was the media would have been all over it.

The media are very quiet at the moment. Nothing happened, so let's move on.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

A lawyer would just eat that up...public, almost impossible to deny culpability, and extremely hard to prove.

is truth of the allegation required for defamation proceedings here or only that defamation has occurred?

Since it was posted on Facebook, probably governed by international law or law of the parties. I think both AUS and NZ follow the principle that the only defence is truth.

Kind of unwise thing to post, imho.

Great place I used to go there when I was back in Melbourne, for phở bò and to chat in Vietnamese to the waitresses. But that was over 15 years ago. I think it's gone downhill a bit since then :D

People might be confusing Morrish with James McCabe, another former Victorian cop who now works in Cambodia.

McCabe went to jail in Australia for stealing drugs and money from drug dealers.
