The Australian Government is well beyond a joke now. How did we end up with so many fuckwits running the Western world?

They could have just given it to me, I would have wasted it a lot more effectively and without killing anyone.

That money will help a lot of poor workers as they build a new wing on to HS's mansion.

Re: Australia grants Cambodia $67.7 million aid
Well to be fair sir your post showed such a simplistic basic view of what aid is for here that it deserved a negative rating. The typical barang bar stool speak of NGO's and aid. The sort that comes from someone who just lives in Phnom Penh, eats at nice restaurants and bars has a nice house, thinks all hospitals are like Royal Phnom Penh and thinks that Cambodia has no problems any more as they don't see them? maybe that ain't you.
Look at where they are spending their money - (its all here http://dfat.gov.au/geo/cambodia/develop ... bodia.aspx)
Improving Health outcomes - this includes putting money into systems which allow poor people to access health services for free under H-EQIP and HEF. - maybe you think that a bad idea to ensure poor families can access treatment without bankrupting themselves?
Also training for health sector personnel to you know ensure higher levels of professionalism and competency across the country - so you know people in say Rattankiri can get decent health care.
Improving maternal and neonatal health - so you know kids don't die unnecessarily
Improving equality and access for people with disabilities
Improving services for sufferers of domestic violence
Improving essential infrastructure so people get things like clean water and improving education outcomes
I dont disagree with any of those things do you? Maybe politically it may not seem right but why should the country suffer? Do you not think DFAT have a range of measures and controls of where there money goes and it is spent correctly?
and all these are done with sustainability in mind not a constant gravy train, But you keep telling yourself it's just a bunch of fat cat NGO workers milking the system. Most NGO's i've observed have around 80-90% qualified local staff. for those who are foreign they usually have Masters Degrees, a wealth of experience and get paid a fraction of what they earned in the west. None of them drove a Lexus, most had a moto or bicycle and lived in a $300 apartment. but you keep perpetuating the myth they're all lazy fat cats. makes a better story.
