Attempted Robbery of British Man & Girlfriend This Week Caught on GoPro (VIDEO)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

^^ Yes, good luck to the OP and good for you for going public. I hope they find these guys. The bag/phone/necklace snatchers are not inoffensive thieves. They are dangerous and victims can be badly hurt or even killed. But, the snatching epidemic in PP doesn't seem like it's going to go away any time soon unfortunately.
I admit that I always raise a silent cheer when they fall off their bikes and end up on their face. That's not mob justice, just well-deserved karma from the universe, so I feel fine about going YES :Yahoo!: , one down. :whip:

Hope your friend's wife is ok now Mish.

you would be dangerous with a GoPro.

..especially with your motorbike riding
As it happens I was out last night with photography in mind, or I should say early hours of the morning. Anyway first I had a ride out of the city up on to highway 4 grabbed something to eat on the many road food stalls while the rain, pouring buckets. I must say there are many new shop housing been built in suburbia, I have noticed prices up to $150,000 and lower end at $39,000 So a question? Who are the buyers of the multitude of the new dwellings? For the lower end price the re-payments after deposit are $500 per month. Anyhow not my problem I am not allowed on the market, on the bike again and on the best road in the kingdom past the airport and the many newly opened Chinese places (always activity at these establishment's at any hourly times). Referring to this story "not" often see police when darkness falls.
Anyhow I ended up here on return of my 50km trip so far.

One thing is not much traffic around, only cars I was to really see was those of customers picking up the many prostitutes lining every street in the area, gives chance to stand in the road.

@AndyKK It all depends where you enter the market from. Go to the central atrium and one of the "fingers" that splits off there is a section dedicated to electronics and tasers etc. That is where you will find the cameras and accessories.

So choices go-pro or ****** remember Charlie Bronston in the vigilante roll
This one I will call, the Taser Effect

You are indeed a dangerous man with any camera, Andy. ^^^

There is a good point! Again linked to this thread, thief's and snatchers, yes there is a reel danger, I use only a mobile phone. I have two camera's at home, but taking out a very visible camera alone on the street, at night time could bring sure danger too yourself. Any one want to join me to get some shots sometime please feel free to contact me, one thing I do is keep my gear via rucksack securely tied to the fuel tank of the bike.

I have often wondered why a news crew have not set up their own ''News Splash '' by putting a GPS unit in a bag along with fake $100 notes and an old phone, then give it to a girl to sit on the back of a moto while being followed and filmed by another member of the news crew from behind. Shouldn't be too dangerous if she was wearing protective gear and held the bag out so it was easy to take.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

That's fantastic news!

Maybe it's time to change my tired old paradigm of the Khmer police. :thumb:

I've contemplated on creating a bag with a fluorescent paint bomb (strong enough to knock them off their bike but not blow off their fingers)

Or with a metal mesh that can shock the thieves..

Or both Image
