Koh Rong, Cambodia: Two Cambodian men have been arrested on the small, popular island for attempting to rape and rob a female Japanese tourist.

She was walking alone when the 2 men tried to rape her and take her bag. Nearby police on Koh Rong heard the incident and came to her aid.

No, this was not the first episode of the new "Survivor" that was being filmed in Cambodia this year.

Now I’m glad I asked about safety and deterrence of crime on the other thread.

I don’t know if it’s that common for Japanese women to travel alone, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth just reading about the poor thing.

Still going to Koh Wrong for certain. Will be taking all the safety measures suggested on this board despite how silly cam nivag thinks it may be.

Will look for single Japanese women too.

I don't know if because i was khme that's why i wasn't targeted. I have been there once and was one of the most amazing time i had and i had done so many things i have never before, can't tell.

Back to the topic, it was really safe for me, nothing happened. I stayed up late, walking alone late night and also was really stupid to leave my phone and wallet in the dorm room. Fortunately, they were not stolen or whatever.

I showed their picture to my wife, she says construction workers, not locals. There's a lot of them in Koh Tich at the moment.
