Just curious why the need for a Lt General (3 star general) to investigate and crack this case.

Because it's a giant amount of illegal narcotics? Who said he investigated and cracked it anyway? It's quite possible his crack detectives discovered this and he just wanted to bask in the glory of the biggest bust in the district ever?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

64KG of drugs, an AK47, a '38 and a 9mm handgun and plenty of ammo to start a decent fire-fight.
But apparently no cash. Not a dinero.
Maybe that's why the Lt Gen was there...

Chinese tea packaging once again. It's a total give away I would think. Does anyone have any clue to why the package of ice in the label of Chinese tea, is it just because they are 1kg bag's or is it someone's brand. With the Thai involved once again I would suspect that the drugs came over the border, more so the heroin. I wonder if Cambodia is going to see a rise in the heroin once again for sale on the streets, being that it is still the most popular drug in Asia.
The good news is that the guns were not used against the authorities.
