Couple Burn Down Their Boat in an Argument
Cambodia News (Kampong Cham): On September 17, 2020, a couple argued with each other and burned down their boat in front of Borey Sakor pagoda, Prey Leav 4 village, Kong Meas district, Kampong Cham.
The police and the local people came help to put out the fire. It seems that the husband was angry with his wife because she wouldn't stop drinking, so he set the boat on fire.

Re: Couple Burn Down Their Boat in an Argument
The latest in a very long line of incidents that could only be solved by taking the upmost, drastic action possible.
I guess it's just luck that no-one was murdered.
Woe betide anyone who gets on the wrong side of some of these Khmers.

Seems an entirely proportionate response to his missus having a beer.

Re: Couple Burn Down Their Boat in an Argument
This seems to be a repeating pattern. Disgruntled relations demanding money for their drug/drink/gambling addictions and being refused so then burning down the home. So next time they need money the potential benefactor is homeless and broke? It's so degrading and pathetic. The only solution I can see is to encourage more building with fireproof materials like concrete.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Concrete boats? Fantastic!
They tried building concrete cargo ships during World War 2.
All of them sank.
Maybe a good thing, then?

I stand corrected.Element6 wrote:Ferro-cement boats exist and float and have been around for a long time. Not sure I would ever buy one though
However these must be constructed to unique specifications. And not modifiable after construction. Hull checks, such as hammering on them is highly discouraged.
All rules would be likely tossed out the window by the first Khmer owner.
AKA instant cement bathtub, extra large.
