Anti-Trafficking Police Raid GaDo Italy Wine Shop, Rescue 2

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

$1000 for one bottle! Ha, never saw that on the menu before.

I don't think she is a victim, I think she told the truth when we were there as guests and she introduced the owner as her boyfriend. Don't ask me how I keep winding up with people like this, it's not the first (or last) time I recognize people in weird arrests.
According to the people who live nearby, the two victims, one of them is a senior lady.
He continued, there are a lot of suspicious in this case as the woman who claimed she was the victim had been seen working normally in above wine shop.
I think the "senior lady" is the fake Russian in the photos, who was also said to be working as a manager. There is a red passport in the drawer in the photo with the cop at the desk. Bolivian passports are blue and it does not match the symbol on Jamaican passports.

My guess is that there is one more trafficking victim, most likely this one was the one who phoned home and whose family got involved with IOM. When the immigration police showed up, maybe fake Russian senior lady understood that this was it and bailed. "Oh, me too, I'm trafficked too!"

Here's the guy I was talking about, featured here, his name is Jeffry Akudo: http://www.phnompenhpost.com/7days/7-qu ... ffry-akudo

Image
Italian wine seller Jeffry Akudo has opened Cambodia’s first Italian wine-only shop.
What kind of a range do you sell?

All of our wine is 100 per cent pure. We have both red wine and white wine, and it is all imported from the regional co-operative factory in Italy where my father owns the vineyard. The cheapest bottle in the store is $7, and the most expensive bottle of wine is $2035.
Fake Italian (possibly Russian) chick is referred to as Linda from Italy.
We plan to open another store in Siem Reap, probably another in Phnom Penh, and maybe another one near a costal town. My wife, Linda, and I have come over to set up the business, but we will be going back to Italy soon. Our intention is to set up the business, and train local people to run the store and then visit in the future. This is the first Italian wine shop in Cambodia, and it is going to mean great things for Cambodian people.
Here's their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Gadoitalywine?fref=ts
Another one: https://www.facebook.com/johna.okalt?fref=ts

Can't help but notice that they have only received 3 reviews on Facebook. All of them were from 3 months ago, two of them by Russian names, all of them were 5/5 satisfied and none of the profiles which gave reviews show any hints of ever having visited Cambodia.

Possible "elder" trafficked lady from Bolivia?:

Looks like the cops came right in time for lunch:

It's not Cambodia's first Italian wine shop.

That was opened by Antonio several years ago on St. 5, in conjunction with his restaurant, which is closed now.

Detain me! I do quality control! Over here! Traffick me!

I guess there goes the location for the next meeting of the Red Wine Club.

Surprised no wannabes had their photos taken with the $1000 bottle of wine.

In the meantime, I'll go and read the thread without repetitive sexistic jokes.
No sexist jokes, but plenty of speculation that the lady is a whore.
Thanks anyway BOFH; some interesting details.

So the fake Italian/Russian woman in question is in fact Romanian, the Jamaican dude is Nigerian and nobody knows what happened to the $1000 bottle of wine.(Never mind the $2035 bottle.)Possible links to the cocaine trade.

And this is brilliant. Says the Jamaican/Nigerian wine seller:

All of our wine is 100 per cent pure. We have both red wine and white wine, and it is all imported from the regional co-operative factory in Italy where my father owns the vineyard. The cheapest bottle in the store is $7, and the most expensive bottle of wine is $2035.
100% pure wine - how exceptional - and I hope the grapes are all organic and handpicked. Lol.
Thanks, please post more - hilarious stuff.
