A few weeks before xmas i spoke to my niece on the phone and she said "i might tap you up before xmas" ie borrow some money.

I'mnot so sure about your final conclusion of mistake. If the post would have read "tap up" as it does elsewhere this American would have read understood it. After all we use "hit up" with the exact same meaning.pczz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 6:20 pmthe mistake you made is using English words. many people here only speak American or Australian.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 4:43 pm I already told you , when somebody is on the "tap" they want money, or in this case a beer, we use the expression all the time in the uk. Re: Another Barang on self destruct mode on 136st
Tapping = fucking in Kiwi/Aussie slang
“Yea bro, I’m tapping that ho” = “yes my friend, I am having intimate relations with that lovely young lady”
“I’d tap dat ass” = “I am extremely interested in having carnal relations with that beautiful woman”
Etc, etc..
Have also heard it used in reference to tapping someone’s beer bottle to make it froth up, but try that in a Kiwi or Ozzie pub and likely to get a hiding.
