American Police Officer James Forrester Dies in Siem Reap

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

perhaps he didn't travel alone?
and a friend stayed elsewhere...

perhaps he was on a visit to meet friends...?

in contrary to the above, I would think that 99% of single male travellers come here for sex & booze rather than the temples... sorry guys... but I would also think, its perhaps 0.5% for children...

Are you sure about that ? That would be at least 15.000 per year. Reported cases are about 15 per year. :D Yeah, I know....statistics can be a pain in the ass.

Sure, but one needs something to do during the day. I used do the culture stuff when the sun was up and would debauch myself at night.

No problem, that's o.k Potty. I just think that there is a lot of misconception involved and people have the tendency to throw around with numbers just because it suits their purpose (politically). This thread went wrong anyway because it implies that foreign men that travel alone (and that die here) are involved in illegal activities, which is of course totally absurd.

Could refer to a gastrointestinal bleeding. Such bleedings have intuitively been attributed to stress ulcers.

He tried the street vendor food.

The peanut gallery back in Canada did the same thing to Dave Walker, saying that he deserved to be murdered because he lived in Cambodia and therefore must be a pedo. There are a lot of tiny little sex obsessed minds back in the west that get off on these sorts of fantasies, as well as media and NGOs that profit from it.

...there are none so blind as those who will not see...

Clearly you have decided to cling to your misguided inference from my post.

I specifically said that MOST who travel to Cambodia, alone or not, have NO untoward motives.

I listed several legitimate reasons one might be traveling to Cambodia, even if alone.

I indicated that even if Forrester traveled there to pay for sex (one of several possibilities), it could be with persons of legal age (apparently still illegal, but widely accepted in Cambodia).

I AGREE that it is "totally absurd" to imply that "foreign men that travel alone (and die here) are involved in illegal activities."

Of course, that is NOT what I said. I think you know that, so I will move along, and leave you to feed and nurture your injudicious inference. Cheers

 :thumb: Yap, never do that. These idiots (street vendors) wipe out entire families here in SR with their delicacies.
