American MICHAEL BERG (AmCham Board Member) Caught on Video Allegedly Trying to Bribe Police in Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Michael Berg is also on the board of governors for AmCham Cambodia (The American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia), where he's listed as General Manager for Jaguar Land Rover.

Presumably, AmCham Cambodia doesn't approve of their board members trying to bribe Cambodian police officers after someone calls the police on them; as of right now he's still a member. He was elected to be on the board for a term of two years, and governors on the board are eligible for reelection after their 2 years is finished.
Damn, just read the OP fully. Is there anything against this guy or am I not understanding the story? It's not as if he's bribing high-level officials, seems like the lady was the aggressor, I noticed she likes some anti-vax posts so already leaning towards her being a bit looney. Don't know any of the characters involved, is there some history with the Berg guy?

Does anyone else think the headline should be adjusted?
We know why this girl has said that he was attempting to bribe the police but why would CEO go along with it?

You see drivers tip the police when they I turning left or right and the policeman in the middle of the road helps them get across the traffic.

I expect he was trying to give a tip to apologise to them for having them be called out by a crazy woman to a non-event .

O Ed, I have done this more times than I can count. It is an apology or an acknowledgement of so sorry that you were bothered with this. Happens when my driver makes a silly, minor driving error. When they allow us preferential parking. When we call them to deal with an annoying neighbor wanting a scam. A tip is a few dollars to get some beer later. A bribe is a fistful of money. Not unusual in Cambodia at all.

1. The thread title ought to be changed
2. Women like that embarrass me- and annoy me. ‘I’m a woman.’ ‘You made feel unsafe.’ I hate that bullshit

Might want to look into a corporate discredition motive. Even though she edited the video, she still comes across as the antagonist. However, there are boards out there, that will jump at any excuse to discredit a person, and this can be used for that. I hope he gets a lawyer and files defamation charges, because her post on FB fulfils the requirements. He needs to protect his "behind"

I learned several things from that video.
In no specific order :-
1) Facebook is for cunts (I always suspected it was, but this video confirms it)
2) The Cove should be Napalmed for playing that music.
3) When someone asks for an apology, then receives multiple apologies but continues to bitch on and on, they’re a cunt.
(Note: Don’t demand an apology for something if your not prepared to accept the apology)

The man in the white T-Shirt who is threatening to have her beaten up is Joel Shipsides, owner of The Vine and "investor" (whatever the fuck that means here, paid for someone's visa I guess) in the cove. He like Michael, has also been known for his shady business dealings.

Who knew the hospitality sector here was riddled with shady white fellas? Color me surprised

While there are always two sides to a story, based on my personal interactions with Micheal over him seemingly encouraging (or at the very least, 'allowing') Wayne Brewer and another Khmer440 member to harass and defame me, it's not hard for me to believe he was harassing this woman to the point she actually called the police.

And don't get me wrong, she seems like your typical 'SJW' with all her white privilege crap, but to her credit, she was upset enough to get the Cambodian authorities involved, according to her.

Also hard to imagine he's dumb enough to give an official a bribe, tip, 'tea money' or whatever you want to call it right in front of her while she's filming. If that was an innocent gesture like some have said it might be, you have to wonder why the officer didn't just take it, lol.

Again, I'm no fan of Micheal Berg as it is after my own personal experiences with him, but it sounds like he's really gone off the rails based on this new story about him.
