American Jason Richard Barnett Kills GBT Guesthouse Staff

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

...The motive for Barnett’s alleged beating of Neang Sarin, a 31-year-old employee at a guesthouse who remains unconscious at Phnom Penh’s Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital, is unclear, Savuth said.

However, James McCabe with the Child Protection Unit said Sarin was suspected of sexually assaulting the daughter of Barnett’s girlfriend.

Barnett’s girlfriend and her daughter were at the scene of the beating, Savuth said...

Is that guesthouse barang owned?

There is no guarantee. We can't trust Cambodia polices and judges, when it comes to money. Most of them (not all) are money-oriented. He might will be bailed out next week who know.

If the info from CPU about Sarin is true, he may deserve not only bail but just straightforward release from jail and maybe a a medal too, or at least a pat on the back and a free beer for a job well done.

The Cambodian victim, Sarin, has died at the hospital in Phnom Penh.

Looks like Jason Richard Barnett is in a shit load of more trouble now.
