Re: American expat goes postal in Kampot
C'mon, someone must know who he is ?
IMO, being rude, saying fk u, and leaving in a huff is one thing (not a good thing AT ALL, but sometimes people have bad days), but the fact that the guy went to leave, then upped the aggro, and got back off his bike to smash up the shop is so far out of order that I don't care what the woman said to him, there was no need for that violence. No excuses possible. Guy needs a serious reality check.

Do you walk into provincial shops and say "Gimme watah"? And then go on rants that wouldn't even make sense to the local shopkeeper if she spoke fluent English? I hope not.The Judge wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 4:40 pm It is very frustrating to me as well when I've attempted to go up to the front of a store, not inside, to buy something and the people get up and walk away, or raise an arm with fingers spread and twist their wrists back and forth (Khmer sign language for get the fuck away from me, I'm not interested in your business), without even asking what I want. I can't count how many times that's happened to me in the years I've been here. Nonetheless, I've never thrown their inventory on the ground, as tempting as it might have been.

That guy has been in the news previously a few times, absolute nutcase/meth-head...you may remember him from a video at a hostel SR where he was claiming the US Government were after him or some such shit (?) and one where he was attempting to throw a woman down the stairs of his apartment.... Surely there were threads here about the incidents. Surprised he's still in Cambodia, and alive!

Yeah, I just found them, the guy is seriously fucked up. He's trying to throw the tiny woman down the stairs and some big barang comes up and stops him. Who the hell does that? You could easily kill someone on the hard steps.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 8:07 pm That guy has been in the news previously a few times, absolute nutcase/meth-head...you may remember him from a video at a hostel SR where he was claiming the US Government were after him or some such shit (?) and one where he was attempting to throw a woman down the stairs of his apartment.... So, who is he ?
I really don't think that naming and shaming the guy is a big deal here if it gives a heads up to other businesses in Kampot or elsewhere.
This guy is not good and not ok, gives expats a bad name, so why not out him to help prevent other incidents like this one ?

Re: American expat goes postal in Kampot
Sometimes Khmers don't get my unaspirated k sound either when I try to ask for tak or water. But then again I would never go into a public place without a shirt on in any country either, also, If my mask is not fully on when talking to a stranger it's almost on and I would be adjusting it to be on. Dude is pretty rough and tough for sure pushing around a lady here, some bad kinda bad motherF$%*er left over from some black ops on a broken mission or something. I can't recall seeing his face or hearing that coarse, generations of court martialed white trash voice, before. Stuff like this makes me feel better for getting into as many fights as I have here - always foreigners, proud to say no Khmer and I have ever come to blows. It'd been neat to poke my melon head around the corner and ask if someone needed to get their ass kicked while he was gearing up for his second assault on the woman's store and in between his fantasy military history segments.
I'll add this; dude has some lovely sparkling white sneakers on there. Just immaculate, I wonder if they are new or if he takes really good care of them, or what..?

That’s because it’s “dak” not “tak”,even though that’s how some natives say it.

One look at his photos and the meth looks right back at you. Which probably explains his behavior. A drug test would be in order, now that he's been arrested.
