OD'ing on drugs must be the main cause of death for western people visiting Cambodia
The numbers just keep racking up, year after year
You feel sorry for the families & friends affected in every case

What are people thinking of buying drugs from the streets in Cambodia. There is no quality control here and they WILL sell you anything to make money. The very long list of dead foreigners keeps growing and street 172 has more than most streets. Is it not enough to be in Asia away from the Western countries. Get a hobby! Don't take drugs!

Sure, but I'd imagine that many of these people have already been on a downward spiral before they ever got here. The relatively easy availability of OTC medicines that need prescriptions in other countries is one element, and there are also lots of dodgy people around selling illegal narcotics if you want to look for them. Personally I had seen all that shit before I ever hit these shores and never had time for it since, it's fun to mess around when you are young but if you get dependent on anything you are no use to anybody. You can make what you like out of life wherever you go, but for some people this will be a "final destination" for years to come, there are many sites on the internet where they discuss this, and lots of subreddits full of reports from junkies who land here and think it's paradise for a while and either slowly extract themselves or stop posting (die). It's kind of depressing but I don't have enough tears for the whole world.jaynewcastle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 9:56 pm OD'ing on drugs must be the main cause of death for western people visiting Cambodia

Silence, exile, and cunning.

The Darknet photos are an absolute advert for just saying "NO". Compare and contrast the passport/ID photos to the deceased. It is an absolute shame that either one has no other choice, or that one is unable to make any other choice. Either way, RIP fella.

I doubt that there is much "quality control" in any illicit drugs trade, the closer it gets to the streets. Too many layers trying to make their dime. I'm fairly sure that most drug dealers in most countries will just about sell anyone anything. (Given that they've likely cut it themselves to absolute junk.) It's quite possible that SEA has a particular attraction for the very people that succumb to it's "charm"?? I have no idea of prices of the stuff people take, but I will take a wild stab that there are savings to be made.paul.smith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 10:30 pm What are people thinking of buying drugs from the streets in Cambodia. The closer you get to source the cheaper the product and the higher the quality, that is why so many die.

Sure, drugs are dangerous.
Equally boring is to point out that alcohol is still the No1 white man's poison in this part of the world. And poor diet and sedentary lifestyle and carbon particulates.
Why the focus on drugs so much?

The Darknet photos show a very enlarged abdomen, but hey, that could be coincidence. For sure, alcohol is a killer, but by goodness we see more wind-related and heart-attack deaths in KOW than are healthy. I doubt the booze-related retirements garner so much press attention????SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 1:56 am Sure, drugs are dangerous.
