American couple (tourist) had their phone snatched

American couple (tourist) had their phone snatched while driving around the city.

Phnom Penh: American couple was driving around the city at night and had their phone snatched. The snatcher had successfully fled the scene afterwards. This incident happened around 11:40 pm on 8, June, 2015 located in front of Mohamontrey pagoda next to the south gate of national Olympic stadium along Sihanouk blvd, Veal Vong commune, Prambpee Makara (7 January) district.

According to the witnesses, before the incident took place, there were two Americans (couple) were riding a black SUZUKI Hayate with plate number Siem Reap 1J-4707 along Sihanouk blvd in the direction from east to west, then when they arrived the scene, there were two people riding on one motorbike close to them and snatched the phone from one of the foreigner (wife) while she was sitting at the back and holding the phone. After that they successfully fled the scene.

According to one of the foreigner (husband), they are couple. They are American. They just came to visit in Cambodia about a week ago. They were riding around the city on a motorbike then there were two people riding on a motorbike close to them and snatched the phone (ASUS Fone6) from his wife who was sitting at the back.

Later on, there were some polices came to the scene and brought them to the police station to file a complaint. However, when they (couple) arrived the police station in Veal Vong commune, they refused the file the complaint. They only asked the police to find their phone. After that they drove back to their hotel.

Clean theft, no accident at least.
But how do you snatch a telephone from someone on a motorbike at night ? ( Just curious. I already have a phone, which is in a bag or in my pocket usually, and it is really small.)

And it's also a shitty phone so no Khmer would be seen dead with it.

Fairly easy when you are on the back of a bike and have it to your ear or taking selfies, especially with a selfie stick
