if weather downs an airliner (from 10,000m to the ground), every passenger should be handed the weather forecast for the route before checking in... really...

who knows, what that "large objects" are... and how large really...
if there is no blackbox located...

they should find luggage floating in the water...
though, they haven't found any much with AF447 either.
the similiarites are eerie...

Navy finds what is ‘probably’ AirAsia plane’s tail containing black boxes
05/01 08:03 CET
“We found what has a high probability of being the tail of the plane,” Yayan Sofyan , captain of the patrol vessel, told reporters. However, the Indonesian search and rescue agency is yet to confirm the discovery.
http://www.euronews.com/2015/01/05/navy ... -probably/

as soon as the blackbox is located (beeps for 30 days), its no problem in this case as its only 25-30m deep in the sea, it was said...

with AF447 special equipment had to be used, because the wreckage was very deep in the atlantic ocean
Thirty-seven bodies of the mostly Indonesian passengers and crew have been recovered, including some still strapped in their seats. Many more may be trapped in the body of the aircraft.

...its a bit strange, that the plane is apparently broken into so many (large) pieces, but no flotsam of passeners suitcases (colourful dots on the water, normally) have been spotted so far...

they are trying to pull up the tail, where at departure the black box was located.

something seems to ping as well, but nobody wants to confirm what.

The investigator, Mardjono Siswosuwarno, told CNN that smaller boats picked up several pings emanating from roughly 500 meters from where the commercial jet's tail was found.

"I think we will be able to find the black boxes in a few days, because the location where pings were detected is not very far from the tail," Siswosuwarno said.

This wouldn't be a major surprise, since the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were housed in the Airbus A320-200's tail.
