Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 26 November 2021, a man committed suicide by hanging because his wife was angry with him, blaming him for taking their phone as collateral for a 100,000 riel loan.

The deceased was Nou Put Srey, a 23 year old construction worker, living at the rental house in Kantouk Cheung village, Kantouk Commune, Kampoul District, Phnom Penh., He is survived by his wife, Chhin Nareth, 21, and two daughters, one 3 years old and the other 6 months old.

It was understood that prior to the incident the deceased provided a mobile phone as collateral for a loan of 100,000 Riels on 23 November 2021. On the night of the incident, the wife scolded the deceased for not telling her what he had done. The wife went to rest normally, while the husband remained sitting outside the house until midnight, when he disappeared. The wife then went out to look for her husband, and she found him dead.

The incident was reported to the competent authorities for an autopsy and the body of the deceased was handed over to the family for funerary rites in his hometown.

Yes must have been more to it. Underlying depression, lots of debt, hopeless future etc.

Killing yourself due to angry wife seems just a bit exaggerated, though she might have been very scary I guess
