Cambodia News (Banteay Meanchey): On November 19, 2020, at 8 am, a villager spread a fishing net in a canal and caught a 15kg crocodile in Preah Ang village, Sangkat Koh Pong Sath, Serey Sophon city, Banteay Meanchey.

Tel Dao, a 32-year-old man, a motorbike mechanic, said that in his free time on November 18, 2020, he went fishing by spreading the fishing net in the rice field's canal. The next morning, at 8 am on November 19, he checked his fishing net, and it was weighed down with something heavy. He pulled out the fishing net and saw a crocodile was trapped, and that it was already dead.

After that, the fisherman removed the crocodile from the fishing net and took it out of the canal. It weighed about 15kg. Crocodiles are occasionally caught in that area during flooding.

Is that crocodile meat still safe to eat? Net was put out sometime the day before, and picked up the next day. Who knows how many hours it’s been since it died.

Let the villagers eat it. Villagers have iron stomachs that can survive possibly spoiled crocodile meat. My delicate foreigner stomach can’t.

Why is not safe to eat ? If it died from a fish trap the night before, then it should be fine. This is fresh meat fed mostly on local fish and small mammals. Croc burgers can be surprisingly good. :unknown:
