$10M Drug Bust in Cambodia as Police Round Up Taiwanese Drug Gang
UPDATE from newsworthy/chinese-tea-drug-producer-ar ... 38669.html*. Police have continued their investigations following a previous drug raid conducted in Phnom Penh in June this year, and as a result, they have made further arrests this week, as well as seizing US$10M worth of drugs.
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of October 14, 2020, police collected evidence to build a case file and 4 suspects were sent to the Prosecutor's Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court related to the traffic of drugs weighing 2106 kg and 215.89 grams, and 600 kilograms of chemical compounds, worth a total of 10 million US dollars.
On October 7, 2020, an operation to crack down on large scale cross-border trafficking and storage of illegal drugs from Laos through Cambodia to Taiwan, led to the authorities cracking down on 3 targets in Sihanoukville and 4 targets in Phnom Penh.
The operation was ordered by General Dr. Neth Savoeun, National Police Commissioner General, and was under the direct guidance of General Mak Chito, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police in charge of Anti-Drug Planning, and Lt. Gen. Lek Vannak, Director of the Anti-Drug Department. The operation was carried out by the Anti-Drug Department in collaboration with the Preah Vihear Provincial Police, Phnom Penh police, Sihanoukville police, the Department of External and Technical Investigation, and the whole operation was coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
As a result, the police arrested 4 suspects, male, Chinese (Taiwan), including:
1: CHEN CHIH CHIEH, alias JACKY, male, Taiwanese, Taiwanese nationality, holding Taiwanese identity card(Shipping Commander)
2: Name: Zhan Qi Zhi, Male, Chinese, Taiwanese, (Shipper)
3: Name: YU Yao Tsung, Male, Chinese, Taiwanese, (Shipper)
4: Name Chen Pao Jiun, Male, Chinese, Taiwan, (Carrier)
Another suspect, WU Chi Hsun, a Taiwanese man, reportedly fell to his death from a building after he stole some drugs.
During the above operation, the police seized the following exhibits:
* Heroin, weight 189 kg and 580 g
* 2 cars and 10 mobile phones.
Before successfully cracking down on this large case on October 7, 2020, the police confirmed that by enlarging their investigation related to the case that had already been cracked down on June 5, 2020 (see above link*), they found leads to further cases of drug storage and drug production taking place in Cambodia. At that time, authorities arrested a suspect named CHEN CHIH CHIEH, alias JACKY, a Taiwanese male.
Captured exhibits include:
* 76 bags of methcathinone weighing 1,900 kg
* Methamphetamine (ICE) weighing 59.94 grams
* Methamphetamine (WY) weighing 2.36 grams
* Extraordinary drug (MDMA) weighing 2675.60 grams.
* Ketamine weighing 620.99 grams.
* Nimetazepam drug weighing 13,275 grams
* 24 bags of PMK (MDP2P) Methyl Glycidate
Equivalent to 600 kg weight (Table 4)
* 37 carats of ethanol equal to 703 kg
* 04 ingredients, weight 10 kg (not clear)
Caffeine Ingredients Weight 1003.94 grams
* DEXTROSE ingredient weighs 244.76 grams
* One set of processing machine.
In this case, the Anti-Drug Department continues to search for the remaining gang members and will cooperate with the authorities of the countries involved, to order to investigate and arrest the criminals and masterminds of drug trafficking.

Mostly ethnic Chinese smuggling the drugs across border (ie from Burma to Laos to Cambodia to Taiwan/Australia/China, etc). These guys look like triads, huge haul
