looking for a studio close to riverside

Looking for an apartment to rent in Phnom Penh? We have you covered. This is a good starting point for expats who are in the process of moving to Cambodia to live and work. Finding a villa, condo, flat, or borey to stay in when you arrive is probably one of your top priorities. Check out our listings from the community! And if you have a house or apartment for rent, you're welcome to list it here for free. Kampot, Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville, and other provinces around Cambodia also have places to rent, but you might have better luck finding them on foot after you arrive, as the largest number of listings are in the capital city of Phnom Penh.

Is that 10 to 15 mins walk from riverside, or by motorized transport?

Again , Orus Sey area.

If you want to go downhill you could try the Lakeside. I know apartments (1 room with bathroom) that you can cook in for $90 p m including bills.
It's about a 15min walk to riverside or GSM from there. No tuk tuks after about 10 at night so will have to phone one or walk. Though, you should be able to flag one down on Monivong Blvd which is 2 mins walk away.

you have to drive around and look for the "rent" signs.
they will be in khmer so do your research.
no one is going to put cheapies like that online.
not worth it.
better figure $150, and get something better,
for that price you may even get a window with luck.
a motodop or tuktuk can help you - but watch out they do not introduce hidden charges.
also, do not let them mark up the electricity, which should be between 880-1200 kwh.

Actually Frank, the rooms I'm thinking of are not bad for the money and would beat some of the older guest houses for states of repair. My mate is is one with 2 large windows , a balcony and metal door.

Plus you get your own key for the outside gate, so no f'ing security guard to try to wake-up for half an hour cause youv'e come back at 10 past bloody 12.

The thing with apartments and expats in Cambodia is, you have to watch out who you recommend to them.

So, OP if you want a PM you will have to prove to me your intentions. Almost impossible to do isn't it? See what I mean?

So, if you get a key then you come home drunk and forget to lock up and get burgled while you sleep (and everyone around you gets burgled too) - that beats having a security guard? I like having security on my apartment. I can't imagine choosing to live anywhere without security...

The Lakeside is actually quite pleasant in the day time, very quiet and one couldn't be more central. It wont be long before all those thousands of new apartments are going for $150 a month.
