I didn't, but he's listed in the OP above as the person to contact regarding sale.

I went to Sihanoukville for a few days recently. I hadn't been there in two years. Pretty sure I saw that guy. Man, I still don't understand why people gravitate to that place. What a dump. There's just something about beaches that attracts certain types of people which I find annoying. Tourists, but also the expats there. Even the islands are kind of crappy now. Shitty crowded speed boat ride (fast, but it has the downside of bringing a way higher volume of people), too many bungalows (and that won't get any better), trash along he beach (you'd think the owners would wise up and pay someone to pick it up), zero foresight or planning and so on. I can never stand the place for more than like two nights at a time, once a year at most. And I didn't even make it to the real anus this time around (Victory Hill, Occeateal). I have to admit, I've never really liked beaches to begin with. Sorry Jamie!

They even have people putting up "for rent" signs in the islands. Haven't the islands been given to a Chinese company for "development"? Who can legally rent land there? It's state land isn't it? Seems like those islands will be where the next sweep goes.

all youre points are fair mate, ive never been to koh Rong, i would have been tempted a few years ago when you could still go there to "chill out/detox" but now people go over there and come back looking worse than when they left, i see the hordes of backpackers and tourists getting shipped off to there every day and i cant stand being around that crowd so the islands dont interest me in the slightest, i went to Koh Rong Samleon 4 seasons ago and spend the night there in a tent, there were only 3 or 4 resorts there from what i remember, i got told the other week from my khmer friend that owns dolphin shack who has just opened a resort on there that there is a good 25 resorts on there now! when i went the beach was empty it was paradise, i asked some girl what its like now and she said the beach "wasnt that busy but it was low season" so i have little interest in going back there now either... i even often see them advertising full moon parties on Samleon?!

tbh if there were more options of beach side towns/cities here in Cambodia i would have probably moved by now, but i have a good network of friends here, mostly locals with a handful of expats, the community here is the glue that keeps people together, while there is some bad points to shv, one of the biggest for me is all the huge amount of construction going on thats completely changing the place over the past couple of years and is only going to get worse with all these new chinese planned projects, there are some really nice places as well, i love the open spaces and being by the beach, im not a big city guy,
the square atm is actually a really good night out now, all the bars are occupied with an 11? bar extension on the front, its become really popular

Good to hear that about the Square, Jamie. I spent far too much time down there and always liked it because it was a small city, easy to get around and the locals were OK. Much like you. I had planned to retire there but the Chinese developments and the lack of sewerage treatment pisses me off. I have been to most of the islands and seen the rampant development and the rubbish.
I used to enjoy Browns and that beach but now it is gone I won't be back. Small Australian coastal towns have clean water, incredible wildlife, are really cosmopolitan and good healthcare is free. One can dial a doctor now and he will come to your house 24 hours a day for free.
And we have the same climate, same fruit, same backpackers but expensive beer.

BKL, it's funny when people who don't like SV say they don't like beaches, because for me that's the primary attraction. If I didn't like the beach I would move elsewhere. BUT I like swimming in the sea, so I like the coast. I can't stand more than a few days in PP, but that's just my preference, and it doesn't mean that living in PP is better or worse than SV, just different.
Also, you can't judge a place after a couple of days holiday. We're not all creepy; we're just hiding from tourists.
Lots of not so good things happening all over Cambodia, that doesn't mean it's a dump.

the sewage pollution is very limited in scope.
there are many pristine beaches in the area if you have a moto and 20 minutes,
anyone who likes those big balck clams would be well advised to visit HE beach where you can get a 20L bucket of them in as many minutes.
super clean water there.

victory beach is clean.

anyone who says they dont like the beaches in SHV because they thinks Serendipity is the only beach or....? SHV has lots of lovely beaches,
anyone who judges SHV based on Serendipity beach area is like basing PP on Street 51/Sorya Mall area.... you just dont
