Volunteer teacher wanted

This is our job board for expats. Until ZipRecruiter and Indeed make their way to the Kingdom of Wonder, this is the best place to look for employment in Cambodia, whether you're looking to teach English, manage a 5-star hotel, volunteer, or even work for some of the big NGOs. Even digital nomads who move to Cambodia sometimes need a side gig as a TEFL instructor from time to time. Most professional expatriate jobs are in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap and Kampot are emerging as attractive alternatives. If you're an employer or hiring manager, you're also welcome to post your job listing here for free.

Details:
ACODO is a non-profit organization established by native Cambodian founders in early 2008. We provide a loving home, nutritious food, healthcare and high quality education to the most victimized and vulnerable children in Cambodia. They have experienced powerlessness in the ultimate form. Their lives have been governed by fear. Fear of violence, fear of not having enough food, fear of having no opportunity to improve their lives.

Some are former homeless street children who were vulnerable to exploitation from others. ACODO saved them from becoming beggars, prostitutes or criminals. They no longer have to scavenge in the local garbage bins for their next meal.

They have progressed from street kids with no long term goals to children with challenging career desires. Their ambitions vary from being a tour guide, an engineer, a language teacher, an art teacher or a doctor. The children have a real thirst for knowledge and are working very hard to achieve their aspirations.

They get both formal Khmer education at Cambodian private school and informal education after school. They learn English, computer, Khmer traditional dance and music with local teachers and volunteers.

Salary:
$120 USD plus food

There's a house full of voluntourist christians near my house. I'll pass on the info to them. They will most likely be happy to pay the NGO for the teaching position.

At $120 pm , I hope they are not anywhere near taking jobs from "real" teachers.
(Hope the food is good at least. )

Nahh, problem in SR is that even "normal" schools, and so called "International Schools) jumped on the bandwagon. Parents have to pay 600 to 700 bucks a month and the teachers are volunteers....great.

theyre asking a lot for someone with no experience  and expecting a lot of work for $120 + food, ive been offered english teaching jobs a few times in PP...
"do you want a job?"
"yes, sure"
"ill give you a job at my school"
"but im not a teacher"
"doesnt matter, you speak english"

it always seems a good way of earning some extra dollar, but then i remember i am not an english teacher, all the lesson planning and all that shit, i wouldnt have a clue, but i know a lot of people that arnt qualified and just wing it, but me, if it was a teaching assistant placement id be fine with passing on the knowledge of my native language, but other than that ill leave it to the professionals

i was chatting to one lad and some rich Khmer guy was going to pay him to just "hang out" with his daughter to help with her speaking english, he was going to pay for everything (like day trips/cinema n stuff) plus pay him too, albeit it wasnt as much as an actual teaching job but fuck me id of ripped his hand off at a job offer like that haha
