Teachers wanted

This is our job board for expats. Until ZipRecruiter and Indeed make their way to the Kingdom of Wonder, this is the best place to look for employment in Cambodia, whether you're looking to teach English, manage a 5-star hotel, volunteer, or even work for some of the big NGOs. Even digital nomads who move to Cambodia sometimes need a side gig as a TEFL instructor from time to time. Most professional expatriate jobs are in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap and Kampot are emerging as attractive alternatives. If you're an employer or hiring manager, you're also welcome to post your job listing here for free.

svisrecruit has chosen to not reply to salary, work visa, and work permit query. Just another one of "those schools" where they think that by hiring you they're doing you a favor by keeping potential candidates in the dark. Just the usual job with the usual condescending attitude.

Tell us, tb, what are your qualifications and experience?

Before you become so judgmental and bitter at not receiving a personalised reply on gilt-edged correspondence.

Submit your CV to a potential employer, and deal with the consequences, negative or positive.

My guess is you're an unqualified person who processes failure by blaming the employer.

Not even ISPP, the top school in Cambodia, gives comprehensive details of salary/all benefits in a local-media advert.

Why so defensive, vlad?

Nothing wrong with asking for the salary range before deciding not to waste each others time. The salary could then be communicated via PM, if necessary.

Many company's give a salary or salary range in their advertisements. When they don't, there's usually a reason for it (i.e. they don't want to scare away every potential applicant).

Oh come on, does one have to explain what it means when you submit a CV and you don't hear anything?

Or you ask a question regarding terms and conditions that you would find out IF you were shortlisted?

I have seen very few adverts - perhaps 5 in 13 years - that list all the terms and conditions.

The advert says commensurate with qualifications and experience. If a person is too lazy to find out and needs to be spoonfed, I don't know.

1. Submit a CV and if you really need to, state your all expectations, salary, work permit/whatever in your cover letter.

2. If you get a call, you can assume that they would at least be willing to negotiate around what you want.

It's not rocket science. We had some joker on 440 posting at 3aM drunk and calling everyone a doucher and then whining he couldn't get a job.

Apply. Deal with the consequences and if unhappy, apply somewhere else.

But generally speaking, you are in the wrong country to make much money out of teaching. Move on.

Hi Vlad,
I'm sorry that you removed("edited") the post to further world peace; it showed a petty side of you that has become more pronounced lately as you strike out at posters in the "interests of world peace." Nonetheless, a few points need to be made.

1. I do not wear a suit and tie when I work in my garden and I do not use my
"Sunday" English on this forum. Many of the points you attacked were frankly childishly petty; I was using colloquial English instead of "proper"English. I prefer a more relaxed style for this and other forums.

2. I was not applying for a job; I was inquiring about several points of interest. I will not burden you with a list of my qualifications; you many however rest assured that they are extensive. My last job, which I quit after my wife and I moved to the countryside, was at ACE, where I worked for five years. Doubtlessly, that institution does not meet your high standards.

3. I was inquiring in part because I am concerned about education in Cambodia and in part out of curiosity about a school I had never heard of. I found OP's response offensively condescending and typical for reasons already stated. As a father of two children the state of education in Cambodia is of concern to me, not as an applicant for a teaching position, but as a long term expat who does not want his children to be subjected to the mediocre quality that typifies education in Cambodia. Of course, it all starts with the administration; hence, my anger. I have encountered this haughty attitude frequently in my teaching jobs in Cambodia. As a result of having turned my back on being an active participant, I have found a new and rewarding life living in rural Cambodia teaching English to my children and on occasion village children.

Vlad, you are obviously highly intelligent, but are making assumptions that have no merit. Stick to puns where you excell.
