Receptionist/admin

This is our job board for expats. Until ZipRecruiter and Indeed make their way to the Kingdom of Wonder, this is the best place to look for employment in Cambodia, whether you're looking to teach English, manage a 5-star hotel, volunteer, or even work for some of the big NGOs. Even digital nomads who move to Cambodia sometimes need a side gig as a TEFL instructor from time to time. Most professional expatriate jobs are in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap and Kampot are emerging as attractive alternatives. If you're an employer or hiring manager, you're also welcome to post your job listing here for free.

There aren’t any locals on here, but I could be wrong. But who in the fuck, on this forum, is going to take the OP up on this job offer?
I don’t entirely disagree, but I do take a slightly different view.

Firstly, whilst I may be an expat, I generally have a lot more interaction with the Khmer than I do with expats. I do know of a couple of fairly well (state) educated girls from swmbo’s extended family/friends, who might be interested in a job other than garment working. The lads all head off to construction jobs at the earliest opportunity, girls seem to migrate towards the garment industry. Whatever promise they have effectively stalls there. The allure of quick money which is more like teenager thinking, becomes subsistence level wages for the next 4-5 decades.

One problem in Cambodia would be expressing an opportunity in terms other than clearly defined take home money. Especially when the ‘salary’ cannot guarantee more than $150, even though there is commission based earnings. The bottom line is going to guide a lot of the family’s thinking, even though there might be some desire to break away from the drab future.
To the OP, much of this discussion stems from what is a pretty poor earnings statement, whether or not this is in compliance legally, or matches the normal expectations. Even in the west, though, if earnings are substantially made up of commission, there would be some breakdown of what the potential earnings might be.

I am curious though, how a receptionist/admin role would fit with a commission based earning structure.

"I am curious though, how a receptionist/admin role would fit with a commission based earning structure."

The company has two arcs one is online store and the other is a subscription based service. I don't want to go into to. Much detail but I can assure its all legit and above board, not dodgy in anyway but I dont want to give away my business model/information away to much on a public forum.

Apart from the usual receptionist/admins responsibilities, a part of the job involves interacting by phone or via social media with customers and explaining the services and products, not exactly chasing people. For sales but rather being source of information and answering calls/questions (admin) handling the Facebook page etc..
"She" for arguments sake...

Commision 1.
Example if a a customer contacts office /online fb /telegram etc.. to make a purchase the receptionist takes the call /payment she makes a a single % comission per sale .

Commission 2.
The subscription service is paid monthly and she will receive comission % every month of the paid subscription.

It's not a sales position as such the payments side of things is done by another member of staff, but explaining what services we offer and products we provide are part of the admin.

Additionally, of course I would show a breakdown and forecast of potential. Earnings through comission to an interested applicant but once again, I'm not willing to share that in an online forum.

Lastly, I can appreciate what you say about "Quick money " I've seen alot of that, where khmer cannot see to. Far into the future and working towards longer term reward. I try to understand it but I find difficult, being from England, we have benefits, medical, education etc... And are Pretty bloody privaleged., so can take our time..

Whereas, khmer society is completely different, they are sending money home, paying bank. Loans, moto payments, kids etc...

How does a “receptionist/admin” earn commission? Is this a sales job in disguise?

My guess is that there are probably many girls leaving school who would love an opportunity to get a job like this rather that in a garment factory. This is a starting job which would give experience and may lead to a more permanent job in their life. It's about getting your foot through the door to start your race in the work market not where you finish the race.

Target audience is certainly not a fuckwit like you or an expat , as stated ,it ´s advertised for a khmer national .

Expats = people that live here, proballly have done for some time and probablly married /family / khmer friends who may be looking for a job , of course this is not the only place i´ve advertised.

The only fuckwit on this post here is you with your insulting and disgusting job offer. I would pay a relative that much NOT to work for you, that’s how insulting that pay is.

To be fair to @MrBen87 , the minimum wage is what just under $200/m currently, aimed at garment workers in particular. Where he is located isn't a stone's throw from Chom Chao/Veng Sreng factory area and he'd get a bite if advertising in that area if the working conditions are better than a factory. I'm not saying it is right, but many big corp entry level jobs are also placed at that level or to $250 maybe $300 at a push, aimed at kids getting their first job & still living with mum & dad, etc.

His only hope posting here is that some expat who is hooked up with a poor family can get their sister-in-law a first job, etc. rather than sitting at home playing cards. No factory worker will be checking here pretty certain!

The only ignorance here is your hypocrisy. Like I stated earlier, you posted that the workers should go on strike to fight against the low minimum wage, yet you want someone to work for you at a lower wage than what is minimum here in Cambodia. So you may want to get off your self-righteous high horse and guarantee a wage higher than the minimum wage that you blasted the government for.

What kind of snake oil, whitening cream, miracle diet tablet or the like will this poor girl be selling? or is it a more sophisticated pyramid style scheme?
