They are just teacher of English and Mail-translator ( NGO setting). We always meet each other every weekend and discuss about our job. i have never told them my exact salary. As it is really low Compare to them.Cowshed Cowboy wrote:What kind of business and positions are your friends in Samouth that you think are getting ahead of you.

Re: Job Needed
I don't know if you prefer to work what you really like or paid well? I used to be in the hard time like you when I was not sure what kind of job I really like. I changed jobs many times untill I find what I really like.of course I don't have regular schedule, I have to be flexible with it.. sometimes I get up too early, sometimes I can sleep till 11am, enjoy cooking, shopping, washing.. while everyone work on workday. sometimes I need to go to provinces imidately...I meet different people. I work from Monday-Sunday, I finish my work at7pm and no holiday for me, But I'm satified with job because I have freedom! I always tell myself that do a job that I don't like will never led me develop my work.Samouth wrote:I want to work as communication officer or coordinator. i want to meet new people as much as i can. Actually, i also have another degree (Civil Engineering), however i really hate it and i have never wanted to be a Civil Engineer. You might wonder if i don't like Civil Engeering why did i take that course. It was not my decision to study Civil Engineering. My uncle wanted me to study it.prahkeitouj wrote:Do you know what kind of job you really love?

Re: Job Needed
I think this is true. It is important to be pragmatic, but if you're doing something that makes you unhappy, you will become an unhappy person. Obviously being paid well is nice, but money is only important because it allows you a comfortable life for you and your family and it allows you to save for the future. If you already have enough money for that, but want more because others have more, then it is not a good reason.prahkeitouj wrote:I don't know if you prefer to work what you really like or paid well? The Christian devotional would annoy me too, but it is good that you've never been to church and nobody has screwed with your job. At least they're that respectful; I don't think all Christians would be.

Right joining devotion is really annoying especially when you don't know how to say prayer and people ask you to pray. I had a really hard time for the first few months working with them. i need to learn how to say prayer. I can't believe that i could work here for now more than 2 years. Right, they actually want you to go to church every weekend. They want you to believe and learn more about the Lord, however they will not push you. Moreover, they will not sack you for the reason you are not going to church.

Re: Job Needed
You knew you were going to work for God-fobbers when you took the job. If its just the praying every morning, do the dance, smile and take their money. If its because you hate the job/people, write a good resume' and find something you like. If you have multi-degrees you should have no problem finding a job better suited to your likes. Most of us here have taken jobs we hated, but they gave us time/money to find something better.

Re: Job Needed
It's called job pressure. I understand what is your feeling because I used to work like this. Honestly I'm not Chistain. My formers collauges knew but they tried to encourage me do like what they do. One pastor talked to me face to face in a room that had only she and me, to ask God come into my soul, but I didn't. It was really hard when I felt i'm out of group. Then I resigned from that job. My sisters and brothers also Chistains but I respect their belief. My ex-bf also had the different belief from me ,but I'm not religious. I always respect others like they do to me.Samouth wrote:@MekongMose

Re: Job Needed
Yes, it is manipulation. Historically, Cambodia has been very good at resisting Christianity. One reason I dislike so many Christians is because they are always trying to get you to become Christian. I would be happy if they just let me believe what I believe and they can believe what they believe. The Christians who do this are okay, but they are so few.prahkeitouj wrote:It's called job pressure. I understand what is your feeling because I used to work like this. Honestly I'm not Chistain. What the pastor did sounds very uncomfortable. I wouldn't like that. I just think so many Christians want you to be Christian because they think you're going to hell if you're not. I think this is very condescending. They should let me worry about my afterlife. Growing up with Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, agnostics/atheists, and Christians in my schools, I can only remember Christians trying to convert me. Nobody else cared what others believed.

Re: Job Needed
i bet you could get some good paying freelance gigs right off facebook.
a lot of ppl need one off translations.
i fancy there is more work than a single person can handle if well marketed.
