Hiring an Administrative Assistant (Property Company)

This is our job board for expats. Until ZipRecruiter and Indeed make their way to the Kingdom of Wonder, this is the best place to look for employment in Cambodia, whether you're looking to teach English, manage a 5-star hotel, volunteer, or even work for some of the big NGOs. Even digital nomads who move to Cambodia sometimes need a side gig as a TEFL instructor from time to time. Most professional expatriate jobs are in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap and Kampot are emerging as attractive alternatives. If you're an employer or hiring manager, you're also welcome to post your job listing here for free.

Hiring an Administrative Assistant (Property Company)

Post by kven »

Hello, I'm a Khmer/US citizen who manages several apartment buildings here in Phnom Penh.

We're looking for an administrative assistant, who can help communicate with tenants, realtors, and contractors.

- Should be able to communicate in both Khmer and English effectively. Either French or Chinese is also plus, but not required
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communication, or similar field is required
- Pay starts from $600 per month, with strong chance of a quick raise into the $700+ range by year-end based on performance
- Khmer nationals only, ideally female and aged below 30 (the supervisor is also in that demographic)

This is a long-term position, and we have loyalty to our employees. Substantial pay raises are given when employees add value, and we don't "lay off" anyone based on global economic conditions. We haven't since 2020, and won't in the future

If anyone has any referrals or would like to apply, please feel free to send me a PM. Much appreciated :)

OP, thank you for being transparent about salary.

This is thought-provoking for any expat with children in education here.

I'm not in education and wouldn't know. But just curious, why thought provoking?

Is it much different from an English teacher salary?

OP is not aiming for expats, or people with children in (expensive) education so it seems.

There is nothing exceptional about this salary at all given that two and a half years ago another property management company from abroad, with properties in Phnom Penh, advertised on TOF a near identical position at starting US$600 per month and was taken up by a Khmer friend of mine under a very favorable contract. The person who took up that position was a tri-lingual female with tertiary level Khmer, French and English, a law graduate from RULE and legal officer with a global US based property company operating in Cambodia, Keller Williams.

Well educated and experienced Cambodians can and do command good salaries these days. US$150 per week is low ball for Cambodian professionals these days working with overseas organizations or individuals. At the salary offered, retention will be a problem as the market improves.

For me, thought provoking would be the expected salary in a fairly respectable, but an otherwise admin type position, and what salary expectations come with it, against the cost of a halfway acceptable education in Cambodia, that matches a secondary education to 16/17yrs old in say, the UK.
