I think if you check, it's the other way round. Its Scotch whisky and Irish whiskey. Americans tend to misspell everything anyway so who cares. Anyroadup if you want a good quaffing bar-fighting drop you cant go past JW Red Label. And I will take on any man who arguesh. Hey Jimmy what choo lookin at.

I love drinking whisky and bourbon.
To be factual, bourbon has higher standards than Scotch and much higher than Japanese.
There are some incredible Scotch whiskies to be had in Cambodia markets and duty free shops.
Single malts ...peated and unpeated.
Amazing blends from Whiskymaker Compass Box.
jr red is certainly not a whisky to fight over much less drink.
Bourbons in order to say bourbon must be aged in virgin oak typically charred to #3 or 4...Wild Turkey 101 is a #4 char.
Bottled in Bond for bourbon goes back to 1897 and it is a federal law that regulates bourbon production.
51% corn at least in the mash..
4 years at least aged in virgin white oak.
No added color ...only from the charred virgin barrel.
100 proof or 50% ABV..
Scotch has many regulations but nothing close to bottled in bond bourbon.
Scotland reuses barrels ...procures most of their barrels from the USA AFTER they had bourbon in them. Reuses old barrels for years and sherry and wine barrels...Hence, the need to add the e150.
Since, bourbon makers cannot reuse their barrels they sell them to Scotland or other countries to use in whisky/whiskey making.
A first fill barrel is a Scotch aged in a bourbon whiskey barrel that was newly purchased from the USA....using barrels over and over is very common.
Scotch can also contain colouring..e150....to maintain the public's perception of a common product such as jr red....
Thankfully, So many incredible Scotch Whiskies are now being produced that have labels with all the information a real whisky lover wants to see.
1. Age Statement..nothing younger than the age on the bottle.
2. No colour added...
3. Non chill filtered..
The chill filtering is due to the common low grade whiskies like jw red being only ABV 40%.
This process removes oils and flavours that cloud up when whisky below 46% is chilled.
Japan has fewer rules...for example Japan imports whisky from around the world and then bottles it and labels it Japanese.
Stay out of bars!
Go find some single malts...grain whiskies, peated, unpeated, higher ABV nectars and drink real whisky.
Cambodia has some great Scotches and with the lack of tourists there are some incredible bottles to be had that gents back in the UK would love to have..AND the price is lower than the UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, EU.
Bourbons are not as plentiful but I was able to find some discontinued bourbons that collectors in the US would love to have.
I am amassing a fine Whisky collection that is based on hours of research on youtube of incredible reviewers in the UK, Canada, NZ, USA...especially Ralfy.com and Aqvavitae...
I carry Aqvavitae's spreadsheet on my phone to search for great bottles here in Cambodia.
I love Compass Box products.
Lagavulin 16 and Their distiller's edition double cask.
Glen Scotia 16 and Tomatin 15 were 2 duty free gems I picked up at the duty free outlet.
Japanese whiskies have gone up in price so much they are not worth messing with...You can get incredible Scotches from Scotland that are far superior.
Stop drinking blends and bullshit.
Don't drink 40% whisky...
Avoid chill filtration if possible and e150..

The bourbons coming out of the USA these days are incredible. A little research would show that.

When imbibing
No 50/50 mix...yikes...perhaps a tsp of water...
Taste the Whisky neat, if the ABV is high add a spoon and taste it again..

If you just want to guzzle and fight..

I'll be reading the labels more closely from now ,had a couple bottles with strong woody smokey flavor and these are not so yummy to me. Like wine I prefer sweet fruity flavors
Suggestions welcome
