Cafe tuk d'ko t'caw. 2500 riel at a corner place near Phsar Kandal. Variable quality. They roast the beans out front. When prepared correctly, served unmixed the local way, it can be excellent, but sometimes they mix it tourist style, and then it's just average. Believe it or not Capitol Guesthouse can do a pretty good one too, prepared the local way, around 2500 I think, though the ice isn't always up to hygienic snuff. Both K-West and Metro do pretty good espressos for round $3 give or take .50 cents. Never really found a modern coffee shop (GJ, Browns, Costa, etc etc) that does a good strong locally grown coffee like I like. (Dislike all that imported Lavazza, Bon Cafe, etc, stuff.) I've tried most of the new coffee shops, some better or worse than others, but none in particular that drew me back for more.

I've been going to Brown (near Titanic) for about a month now and the coffees have been pretty good. At $2.50 for a regular flat white it's a no brainer for me. The only thing is that most of the seating there is really uncomfortable so after about an hour I have to go and that eliminates any chance of staying for lunch.

I popped into the place that jacked their prices last month and noticed that they have dropped them from $3.50 to $3.25, so still 75c dearer than Brown. Greedy. I would reckon that Brown would have 2-3 times the traffic too.

I'm not in PP yet so this may be a silly question but where would one find freshly roasted beans by the kilo? Lao or Vietnamese doesn't matter to me (yet). Will they be at open air markets or specialty shops?

Im a total coffee junkie.. so this thread is the first that interest me been drinking starbucks for 9 years everyday eversince I started working (its overrated I know.. hehe.. but I definitely can not live without good coffee place). So if I want to list down, some of the best coffee places in PP are:
- hagar resto
- brown
- the paris cafe
- russian market
- anywhere else..?
And the coffee to try is the Lao right?

I am not in PP yet but it excites me to explore a whole new coffee world

As much as I enjoy hot coffee in colder climates, a hot drink in hot and humid Phnom Penh is not so appealing. It's just not the same with ice.

Is there any kopi tarik or some other traditional asian coffee drinks in Cambodia? Is there any specific Cambodia made coffee drink? *i would love to try*

If PP is so hot I would make my coffee not iced but on the rocks #kidding
