Nah, old-timers and "simple" Khmer often don't like the cheese, too fat and too rich for their tastes.

I wish that'd apply to their taste in men too, haha. (Just kidding, you fat cats.)

Appreciation by the younger generation expanding rapidly. :p

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.

Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Been to Dos Besos twice.

As a born and bred Southern California, Chicano loving güero with taquito grease running through his veins, I'd like to think that I'm somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to Latin American hailed tucker.

As such, my two meals were met with a resoundingly stuffed and contended belly with matching stupefied, post-nosh grin.

First was the burrito/carne asada. Skimp on the contents they did not. This thing was thick man. I'm talking as big around as a walkabout scrubber's waist. Now that's pretty thick for a burrito.

Second was the taco's which were also grand fare. This time I chose a seat in the foyer area so as to be less of an embarrassing spectacle as I made spastic and ungainly attempts to shove taco bits into my horsey gape whilst meat, lettuce and salsa sauce proceeded to flail everywhere.

As with most Khmer female restaurant staff, they were quite comely and attentive, that is when the pit-stained, slovenly western owner(?) wasn't busying himself openly groping and nauseatingly nuzzling one of the obviously long suffering cashiers. We get it dude. In spite of your revolting exterior, you were shockingly able to procure a tight, little, mocha skinned, odalisque with coconut scented, shoulder length, midnight tresses and an ass, straight from hell, sent to try men's souls.

Dos Besos, give it a whirl!

I have eaten at Dos Besos recently. I much prefer Tacos Kokopelli, but I am not American/Mexican.

I wish Cantina/Hurley's was still around. Back in 2013 that was my first place to grab a feed whenever I stopped through town.

tried Tacos Kokopelli the other night and found it bland and disappointing. Tried Viva the other night and it was crap too. Must go and try Dos Besos.

A topic near and dear to my heart and a great contributor to my expanding waist line. Lived in Mexico for a while and know my Mex from my Tex Mex.

1) Hands down winner:

Agave Cocina ... TTP street 426

++++ New, comfortable, upmarket, serves some authentic Mexican dishes, uffers a very wide selection of Reposados and Anejos, very friendly service
---- Pricey, particularly on the drinks side

2) Strong Runner up:

Mexicano ... BKK- Street 288

++++ Chef is from Guadalajara, usual Tex Mex fare but with a fair amount of Mexican street food thrown in. Best Burrito and House Marguerite in town IMHO
---- Small and cramped venue, AL fresco area is mosquito is and lacks fan.

The two above are the only real standouts in PP.

Best of the REST

3) Tacquerina Corona .... 51 street standard Tex Mex Fare from the same guys that run Lone Pine. Nothing exceptional but good quality

4) Alma Cafe .... TTP .... seems more of a brunch place now

5) Dos Besos ... TTP ... This tasted more like New Jersey Tex Mex to me and not close to authentic. Also on the salty side. Margeueritas are dispensed frozen from a 7-11 style machine ... not my idea of a good classic Marguerita. That said portions were generous and food not bad.

6) Cocina Cartel ... behind Royal Palace .... simple big burritos for the most part

7) Viva .... Riverside .... never liked it ... just like same ingredients in different wrappers .... like a choose your pasta choose your sauce restaurant being passed off as Italian.

Departed: Sunrise Tacos, Ofrenda .... I miss Ofrenda which opened just off of Bassac Lane... I think it was open only two month .... too bad, the only place to have Mole Pob lano on offer.

Not tried yet: Tacos Korpelli (The old Alley Cat, also the Burrito stand outside Sundance which a few have recommended to me.

Cheers,

RD
