Treasure Island Restaurant Sihanoukville

Post by Sailorman »

The Treasure Island Restaurant in Sihanoukville has been a favorite of mine for the past 3 years. Its close to my home, the owners were friendly, they had live seafood, gazebo's on the beach and it wasn't too expensive. First time I went there the owners made me feel like royalty.

I guess everything changes. I look some friends there who were in Snooky from London. The staff/cooks were playing some kind of game outside with their flip-flops and couldn't be bothered with greeting us. The service was terrible, food took a really long time (guess the shoe game went into overtime), and dogs seemed to expect to eat with us. The food was overcooked and just about not eatable and the prices looked to be more than in the past.

Its too bad this place has gone downhill as the location right on a secluded beach is wonderful.

On another note, I found a wonderful Chinese restaurant on the south side of Queenco Casino and on Victory beach. The shrimp ball/patties are wonderful, loved the roast pork leg and the small fried rice was enough for three people to have some. Its a big place with the name in Chinese and Khmer. I've passed by it for three years without even seeing it. Worth a try.

I tried Treasure Island a couple Xs when I 1st moved here & both experiences were well below average. The Chinese place at Victory is Chner Molop Chrey & it's always been good. Thanks for the review, I kinda forgot about the place.

Been going to Treasure Island for many many years and it has always been my best place for seafood, also i prefer it to be not too well known ...was there last time a couple months ago and seemed the same as usual. Hope it was just a once off... its one of my favorite place.

Owners didn't seem to be around and staff was terrible as was the food. Used to be one of my favorite places, but since I found the Chinese restaurant on Victory beach at the south side of Queenco hotel/casino, Treasure Island isn't on my list of places to eat. Just the other day we went back to the Victory beach Chinese restaurant and the food was wonderful. We had the Lemon fish and it was the best fish I've had in years. The Shrimp balls were their usual great as was the fried rice. I've never seen another Caucasian person in there.

Yes, that might be a possibility as a lot of lesser mortals have difficulty being in proximity to my strong aura. (Well, you asked for that one.)

Actually its off the tourist path and any tourists are usually heading for QueenCo and like us for so long didn't even see this fine restaurant.

Actually the Chinese place down from Queenco used to be my favorite go to place back in about 09, before i found treasure island.

They did indeed have the best food by far!!!! Problems happened after the head chef left and it went through a poor patch and has never recovered to its former glory. But has some very cute waitresses.

Treasure Island has always been one of my favorite places in Sihanoukville. Been eating there since before it was Treasure Island. But it's been maybe 6 months+ since I've been there. Disappointed to hear its gone downhill. Was it only this one bad experience, or more?

Chhney Mlop Chrey is OK, but they've changed owners so many times over the years that I've found the dining experience to be very inconsistent. Never bad, but sometimes quite average.
