Yep, awful food definitely makes a difference. Imageopcorn:

I was never very impressed with that one.

My all time favorite is Flavors of India. Very thick, creamy sauce and not super oily either.

One more: Chi Chas. it's a guesthouse (which I wouldn't recommend, looks a bit distasteful) but the Indian food is delicious!

Also, the food court on the 2nd floor has good Indian. Choices are a bit limited but really tasty and cheap. A Malay chef runs the place.

Apparently it's very much down to whether the owner is in town at the time. I've had some very authentic curries there with a vegetarian mate, he tells me he's had some awful food, and that's what makes the difference.
Makes sense. He wasn't around the last time. The previous time when it was sub par - I don't recall whether he was or wasn't.

Haven't been in years. This place : http://www.lonelyplanet.com/cambodia/ph ... an/chi-cha

The set meal used to be great value $3/4 curry, 2 veg, dal, and endless chapti.
Too far from where I live now. My local is now Corinader, vegetarian, and cheap: $3.50/4 a curry. They have some great dishes and excellent breads. http://theadvisorcambodia.com/2014/11/c ... undi-good/
If I'm desperate for some chicken tikka I'll go to Mount Everest. Nice owners and the best thick black dal too.

Think I'll have Indian this evening.
