Tipping the food delivery person.
Tipping the food delivery person.
How much? I always give him/her at least a buck to a buck and a half. It occurred to me I might be way off, so what do you all say?
Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
usually it's 0$
i only paid extra when i put wrong address or they had to wait me more then 5 minutes.

Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
Why bother? They already get paid. And the food will probably be cold, so why give him money?
This habit of tipping everyone will just create a sense of entitlement to the tips, and then we'll end up like North America where 10% will get you sneered at, 15% will get you nothing and 20% might get you a fake thank you. The service I received in Vancouver was ordinary, to say the least, yet tipping is demanded if you pay with a card. They helpfully have the terminal pre-programmed with 15-20-25% as your choice. 25%!!! Who pays that?
It's akin to punching yourself in the bollox either (1) Once (2) Twice or (3) Three times and the crowd will go wild....
FFS, tipping is the worst of all US cultural exports (hmm...that's an idea for a thread )

Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
I generally don’t, unless it’s raining, it’s rush hour, I’ve made them wait (or some other mistake) or they’ve broken the speed of sound on the way.

Tipping in the States is a must IMO. The service staff, waiter/waitress only earn a wage of $2.14/hour. Tips are their income.

If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
In California you are Tax'd on ur salary ($7.50 in Napa) and TIPS which are calculated at 20% of the total bill
all done by software and reported in ur tax form
I have not used a food delivery system but they are HUGE here in Phuket, see everyone uses 7/11 for something as small as an ice coffee. Thais dont tip the drivers as far as i have seen
where is the above image for?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I used to tip them $1.00 but now Nham 24 decided to tack on a delivery charge which is far less than that so I stopped. They never seem too bothered by no tip.

Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
Will be interesting to see what all these drivers do once drone delivery is launched ...
Re: Tipping the food delivery person.
If a delivery guy manages not to annoy me by going to the wrong address, wasting time or something like that (which has happened, but very rarely), I tip them 5,000 riel. Always cash in hand upon delivery, I never use the app's tip feature for deliveries.
Just because I can and I want to, not because I feel obligated to do so. No idea what their salary is and if it's considered decent compared with other jobs, I just know I would hate that job myself.
