The Pub
Re: The Pub
I agreed with you at least for two of these bars, Mikado and Sophie, they were salacious and not for the faint-hearted but iI was also possible to drink and talk quietly with someone without disturbance from the staff, the music was always in low volume no earsplitting jungle music like the bars near the river ( St. 130,136,110, 104)
Chez Rina was a more fashionable venue well located near the river and St,98 away from the usual hustle & bustle. A genuine upscale speakeasy lounge, the staff were hospitable, polite and nicely dressed. The bartending was truly professional and creative. Saddly Chez Rina close down for good in the summer of 2018, a great lost for Phnom Penh nightlife.
How did I miss this one? Never even heard of it until now.

I visited that new location a few times and I'm not very please, I found the staff vulgar and pushy for the ladydrinks. After all those years Rina could be tired.

Re: The Pub
Another benefit was that the hookers were kept inside, unlike at the bars on those streets listed, where they provide a tawdry horrorshow for any wandering tourists, including families with kids.cabron wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:08 pm I agreed with you at least for two of these bars, Mikado and Sophie, they were salacious and not for the faint-hearted but iI was also possible to drink and talk quietly with someone without disturbance from the staff, the music was always in low volume no earsplitting jungle music like the bars near the river ( St. 130,136,110, 104)

Re: The Pub
Chez Rina iirc opened around 2012/2013 same street as nay nay star bar iirc. The eponymous owner used wear ball gowns displaying her impressive assets & they sold nice cocktails but was always very hidden away
Quite popular with the original Garage bar crowd, not so much with the under 50's

Re: The Pub
Same owners. Same location. Same everything. They changed the name from The Pub to The Family Pub.
