Re: The pub
I think you must be quite easily pleased when it comes to food. Not that a fry up is anywhere near haute cuisine, of course, but they do vary considerably. The Pub's was just a let down for us.Jamie_Lambo wrote:big breakfast is decent, good sausage and eggs, have to pay extra for beans though, comes with a Tea for $6 (inc beans)
had the bangers and mash there yesterday, real mash potato and decent sausages
You should definitely try Rusty Keyhole in Kampot for the big breakfast. It will blow your mind.
Rosy in Siem reap also used to be worth it.
How about the Rising Sun these days near riverside? People used to rave about their brekkie too.

Nah, rusty breakfast went to shit since the owners ex-wife took over, along with most of the menu.rick_o'shea wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 5:51 pm

Brass Monkey and the Magic Sponge both kick arse for a Kampot fry up.
Agreed on Rosy Sr, possibly best fried brekkie in the kingdom. The homemade brown sauce puts it over the top.

Personally i think the rusty breakfast got better. And you get decent coffee there now, not a cup of mud.Jerry Atrick wrote:Nah, rusty breakfast went to shit since the owners ex-wife took over, along with most of the menu.rick_o'shea wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 5:51 pm

That's the problem! Finding the good ingredients. I travel to PP now for certain meat products, with the help from people on this forum.
I have been open one year today, and I only now have found good food supplies I feel worthy for me, and most of all the customer.

Always "hope" but never "expect".

Re: The pub
As others have mentioned, the food there has gone down I'd say. I personally always thought he ribs were waaaay too sweet, and they seemed to get sweeter and sweeter as the years went by. The ex wife is really nice and I'll drop in to say hi, but I think she Khmerized the place a bit too much now and the place keeps on ticking because well, it's in every guide book and people are a bit sheepish when it comes to many things (iPhones, bands, food venues etc). I don't think anyone has ever topped either Green Vespa or Cavern as far as English breakfasts go. At least, that's what some Brits say.

I don't know about that. The Rising Sun has a very respectable full English. Especially when they source proper bangers. I love seeing those lengthy, thick, sizzling, pork-stuffed, tube-steaks, writhing on my plate. Reminds me of what I see every morning when I drop trow for my morning piss.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:38 am I don't think anyone has ever topped either Green Vespa or Cavern as far as English breakfasts go. Though nothing tops the Green Vespa, loved his black pudding. The only downer being, when ever he was chatty, having to listen to the owner creepily reminiscing his seedy encounters some 11 klicks outside city limits many years ago.
