CPT: You want to know where Mark gets his meat, go ask him.

As to the Chili place, Its deceptive advertising to have a big sign that says Steak is $5. then charge $6.50. Also by no stretch of the imagination would I call what I got a "steak." I have never been to a steak house/restaurant that charged you for veg, mashed, etc. with your steak. Tell the owner I'm sorry, but if he advertises a steak at $5., it better be some kind of steak and the price should be as advertised. I'm always on the lookout for good steak and quality food.

Lurcio: Where is the "Red Roo?" I want to buy a beef brisket to make Corned Beef and Pastrami.

What cut is it, and how does it get here? Frozen, fresh?
Australian beef, but is it zebu or cow?
Primarily, where does he order it from and how would the layman get hold of it? $15 a pop in a restaurant is surely $5-8 max in raw materials. You can't say you wouldn't want to try and cook it yourself. A few tinnies, a braai.
i just took a picture of my mates steak i dont know its barcode sorry
not sure what i meant by that i had been at a wedding all night and was a litle drunk lol

Red roo is opposite Cozy bungalows, the lurid pink one, down past Deluxx. When I ate in Smith and Wollensky's you had to pay extra for sides to go with your slab of fillet. That buffalo meat came from Red Roo, normally it's pretty good. That Canadian guy in the fancy wheel chair was eating it pretty much every other day.

Sorry: I still don't know where the Red Roo is, what else is by it? Close to a main street and/or market? Smith and Wallensky's? A restaurant in America charging for vegs, potato, etc with a steak wouldn't last very long. Drove by the Chili pepper place today and it was closed. Guess I hit it on the last day?

Seriously, can you lot not google?

Here's a map, it is opposite Cozy - no sign or nothing but it is dead opposite the gates to Cozy.

I couldn't tell from the photos what cut of meat he was serving but there are surely more options, which is what I was generally aiming at with this thread. What about if you don't want to eat there? CK steakhouse had Australian and American imports but once again you're looking at a high price for what could potentially be equalled elsewhere, his steaks I thought were a little small. I thought the general consensus was that if you want a steak truly to your liking you should cook it yourself, why pay extra unnecessarily?
i was in monkey marks last night and my mate and his family all ordered stakes, ive never seen anything like it, it was basically a whole cow just without the legs!
ill upload a picture shortly :good:
none of them finished their stakes, and my mates a big lad!

here you are, its a beast!

Damn. That place is on my list now...

Another entry for this topic, I ate at Penh Neeyum on 7 Makara St just up from City Gold. Khmer place, they do khmer beef fillet steaks, stuffed with garlic. Not massive but only $3.50 each for some tasty fillet, so buy two if you're hungry. Unlike any other restaurant it doesn't come with sides... The service is khmer style and chips are a separate item, so unless you want rice with it try and order the chips first. Even then it's unlikely they'll appear at the same time but the other food wasn't too shabby, either. Immensely popular with the locals, it's full from 7 every day. Private rooms and hungry sexy ladies to have dinner with. I thought there was a wedding on walking through the door with the seats lined up both sides and random women perched on them. They even have big screen movies with no sound for when things get awkward.

Just up from Golden Lyons Circle on Makara St, first restaurant on the left after "The Terrace" is a restaurant that does whole beef calves. $5. for bunch of beef and salad (take away). Really tender beef. I get there a little after 4 so I can get the first cut on the upper back strap. I usually get some Bar-B-Q sauce and a bun from Orange or Samadea and make Bar-B-Q pulled beef sand.
