iL Salumiere - A great place for lunch (or dinner) in SNV

Post by rozzieoz »

Name: Il Salumiere
Address: Eakareach Street, opposite the Vietnamese consulate (head towards Victory Hill from the small market end of town)
Telephone: 093 22 74 32 / 088 63 47 969
Opening hours: 8am - 9.30pm
Cuisine: Italian delicatessen / cold cuts / cheeses / wine
URL: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_ ... vince.html
Rating: (1-5 if you use it): 4 - because I don't drink wine, and my meal could have done with a handful of olives

I've been meaning to try this place for ages and today was the day.
I am SO glad I tried it, it was so great.

It's opposite the Vietnamese consulate, tucked between local business and to be honest, doesn't look like much from the outside.
But step inside and it's awesome! The first thing that grabbed my attention was the large selection of wines - I am not a big wine drinker, but it looked impressive.
There is also an amazing selection of cold cuts, cheeses and other morsels of yumminess on display in a glass cabinet - it was great to be able to see what I was going to be eating. :) I can highly recommend the chilli salami!

There is a good range of meals, with create-your-own sandwiches on offer, just choose from anything in the cabinet and they will put it together on the MOST delicious breads.
They pulled a lasagne out of the oven as we were leaving - at $5 a slice, I am going back there VERY soon for a taste. They have steak, pork and a variety of other options, but I was there for lunch and didn't want a huge meal.

I opted for a "picky plate" - a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, breads and jams with a glass of wine included, but I switched my wine for water. I also ordered some of my favourite salami and cheese to take home with me. :)

The meal cannot be faulted - the presentation was superb, service was excellent, the place is clean, quality is phenomenal and the taste was like a party in my mouth.
However, at $8 the price may be a little steep for some. There are other options though, so don't let the price of my lunch scare you off.
It was absolutely delicious and certainly worth a visit for a treat.
(And for those who are interested - the Aussie steak on the menu is $16 with vegetables etc).

You can sit outside and watch the world go by - or if you want to be transported, you can sit inside and listen to the two gorgeous owners talk Italian to one another- making for a really lovely atmosphere.

It is a really pleasant dining experience and I can highly recommend this place. Congratulations to the owners, they deserve every success in this venture. :)

It's an extremely clean & inviting. Generous servings. My last was hot pastrami on rye with swiss & deli horseradish mustard. Hell yeah! :thumb:

Most people would refer to it as "khmerita"

Rozzie, since it seems you are the forum official eatery reviewer, you shall try the "raphael's corner" in the bar street of Victory Hill. A simple and cheap pasta/pizza restaurante that I find to be of very good value.

I originally had Khmerita in the title and name, but their Trip Advisor listing doesn't mention that name. Maybe admin can add it?

I will try your suggestion soon B_d_s thank you :)

I thought it was il Salumiere, that's certainly what he calls it of FB. Is he responsible for the Khmerita stuff? Isn't it in the same block as Va?
