It's a decent wine.

Some people on here are unaware that Cambodia has the lowest taxes on alcohol in the region. A bottle that costs $7 here will set you back at least twice that, and probably three times that in Thailand.
They should stop lending their ears to bogans and Banglas, B&B, get it? Never mind. LOL

Yellowtail is good wine.

Spanish is best value, imho, Chilean, Australian, NZ, SA, French, Californian, Bulgarian..not many German wines around, unfortunately, and I haven't had a really good bottle of Italian red yet, but I'm sure they exist.

You can also order very good Spanish wines by the box from Hispania Import company in Sinville, contact Diego or Christine

You should avoid wine snobs at all costs. There was an experiment years ago with 2000 people; they deliberately chose upper-middle class participants, people who were most likely to be social climbers wanting to impress people.

They showed them 20 different kinds of wines before the tasting, from box-wine to $250/bottle

Then they had ' blind' tastings, and served the box wine in crystal glasses, and the expensive wines in cheap plastic fake wine glasses

They never served the $250/bottle.

Predictably, the wannabes ticked the crap served in crystal as the $250 wine, and the better wines served in plastic as cheap plonk

The moral of the story, and the practical lesson is that do not be swayed by watch-shaking wannabes, drink what you enjoy, within your budget.

Cambodia is a fantastic place to live if you enjoy red wine, loads of suppliers and very competitive.

Also check out this place: wines, fine brandies et al, all French:

Several hotels do cheese and wine events, search Facebook

Listen to your palate, and your wallet.

Putting red wine, especially good wine, in the fridge always seems like blasphemy. :whip: But what can you do ?

I know this is a red wine thread, but does anyone have recommendations for a decent rose in a medium price range ?
Lanzerac Rose,
Backsberg Premium Rose
Cedarberg Rose (SA)
Chateau la Rose Figeac (Calif)
Jacob's Creek (Aus)

I don't drink Rose, so not much info.

I don't know if Intercon still has wine and cheese events, but they used to have merchants present selling cases, you could speak to them.

Jez Chea at Wine Cambodia will be able to help you, check the FB page

For me red wine doesn't really fit into the climate here. I tried it from time to time but it is not as enjoyable as in a cold European winter evening with a heavy meal or a plate of cheese.
Prefer white wine and beer here when drinking alcohol.

Yes, much as I love a really good red, I mostly prefer drinking a white wine or a beer with the food here.
But (good) red wine has something that you don't find anywhere else. IMO.And then it's :Yahoo!:

Fully agree with you, I love my red and like in Thailand I do chill the red even in a bucket if necessary. It is no choice in this part of the world.

By the way may I ask, is tomorrow a Buddhist holiday in Cambodia? In most part of SEAsia its a holiday. Also may I ask if its a "holy day" like tomorrow in Thailand all alcohol is banned for 24hrs does it happen in Cambodia too?

In Thailand, tomorrow is Visakha Bucha Day.
In Cambodia it is called Visak Bochea Day, but was celebrated on 29 April.

Alcohol sales are usually never restricted. Except maybe during elections.

Thanks guys for the answer. Hmmm now I know.

So for me tomorrow if I wanna drink I will have to drink at home.

If outside I may have to find a joint I am familiar with and the owner trust me, we will serve me wine or beer or alcohol in teacups (non-transparent) and I will have to pay him cash as it should not be in the register. Hate this pretentious crap.
