Re: Pies
All this talk of meat pies made look into what is in my area. Found Premier Meat Pies here in Seattle. Gonna go check it out for a belated Pi Day.
Re: Pies
Tesco own band pork pies are pretty good.
Tried some in SHV made by a Pom. Not good.

Homemade pork pies will never be like the Melton Mowbry ones. Sometimes a giant industrial food processing plant makes things better than the humble home baker. Not often, but this is a case in point.
I'm going to the UK in a couple of months and will bring a few back. Then the real auction can begin...

I have dreams of walking into Tesco and filling up one of their ridiculously large trolleys with all things I miss.Doc67 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 10:36 amHomemade pork pies will never be like the Melton Mowbry ones. True about pork pies here.
Had one one week - hard crust nice filling. Next week nice crust crap filling. Next week - all crap.
Then his mrs started overcharging…

Re: Pies
It seems the quality of the ones available at Sainsbury's and Tesco is terrible. They are cheap, £2.80 for 454gm, but the reviews all tell the same tale.mannanman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 10:41 amI have dreams of walking into Tesco and filling up one of their ridiculously large trolleys with all things I miss.Doc67 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 10:36 amHomemade pork pies will never be like the Melton Mowbry ones. I reckon either Waitrose or M&S one will be better although twice the price.
