I’m still over the concept of an American trying to claim some sort of cultural ownership of pizza over Europeans.Freightdog wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 9:04 pm
After that diatribe, you suggest someone else should lighten up?
As for who cares what Europeans might think.

You pose a natural question but its a gimme too, had you asked any whiteboy search engine and spent that crucial 7 seconds of self critical time
before assuming you were smart, and you may well be smart but as many smarties all too often do, you assumed it
this is off acme search engine for example when asked if pissa was ever really popular in Europe at all before new blood from the foot in the boot humped over to the new land:
"Pizza Spreads Around the World
The spread of pizza around the world can be accredited to two things: Italian immigration and World War 2. In places like Boston and New York City in the late 19th century, Italian immigrants would walk the streets and sell pizzas in a metal washtub for two cents a slice "

You got to figure that post WWII and the return of those GI's that were amped up to begin new projects like suburbanization contributed to the popularization of pizza , Pizza Slut (Hut) has been open since mid 50's and deserves credit for the spin off hot and ready pies that we are discussing here in this soft core porn. damn, f this I am hungry. Ciao'...

Pizza hut deserves credit for doughy bread topped with sweet tomato sauce, plastic cheese and nondescript pieces of pig.bossho wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 11:48 pm F dog:

Not sure they deserve much credit for pizza.
Pizza boomed due to the same reasons any foodstuff does. Price, simplicity and convenience.
pizza must not exceed 35 centimetres in diameter or be more than one-third of a centimetre thick at the centre

Not related to franchises or any other bickering but just want to mention it was the USA who have us pizza as we know it with toppings etc. Italy is home of the base.
On a side note China were actually the founders of pasta but best not mention that.
Disclaimer - I am affiliated with neither of the lands mentioned above.

Cautious Colin,
Pizza Slut was given that nickname for their bastardization of pizza and that is partially under discussion here, thus the slut part. Also in reach for the purposes of this thread are the roots of the popularity of this pie today and all of that can be blamed on the USA. So, not so gentle readers and not so just contributors there you have it. Your taste for pizza and disdain for anything but the purest spiced flatbread can all be attributed to your hatred for America.
Lost 50, Master, thank you sir, what would I do without you offering up the obvious? Master of the Obvious, former MI 6 you are, or are you current? I suppose you can't say.
Nerdlinger, I do posit that Americans do own the re invention of Pizza and I rest my case.
KTabi,
Yes, Americans re invented Pizza, and yes I am more qualified than you or likely any others here to say so.
Goodbye.
