Open Wine
Open Wine
Has Open Wine closed for refurbishment or for good? The website says the former but someone told me it is closed permanently.
Anyone know for sure?

Re: Open Wine
I went past yesterday, closed, empty and a For Rent sign out front.
Pity, a great set lunch for $15.

Re: Open Wine
They're asking for someone to sign a 10 year lease: first five years at $10,000/month, next five at $15,000/month.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Re: Open Wine
wont open anywhere soon (as a restaurant) at this rental rates I guess. No wonder the former restaurant has moved..not economically viable @15$ (now 14) per fixed meal. Need to charge 10times that per customer to be successful in such circumstances.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:44 pmThey're asking for someone to sign a 10 year lease: first five years at $10,000/month, next five at $15,000/month.

Re: Open Wine
It sounds like another example of a landlord refusing to accept the reality of the current economic situation and that these once healthy business' are now running at losses and the rent is killing them. Instead of sharing some of the pain temporarily many (so I am told) seem hell bent on not giving an inch and bleeding the tenants dry. I like the idea that an owner walked away and set up somewhere else while they still had the capital to do it.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:44 pmThey're asking for someone to sign a 10 year lease: first five years at $10,000/month, next five at $15,000/month.
The old building is on a nice big plot so probably ear marked for more apartments.
Re: Open Wine
The house and land has been sold to a new owner. Open Wine was already planning to not renew their lease as they focus on keeping their menu affordable.
Brussels has a smaller menu, lower operational costs, but same gastronomic standards so hopefully Philippe will be able to offer great value for money for years to come.
If you enjoyed Open Wine, it’s time to support Brussels in this soft opening phase.

Re: Open Wine
Nicolas, why did they change their name? Restaurants do move occasionally and keep their reputation and brand. So why drop the Open Wine brand?Nicolas wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 8:39 am The house and land has been sold to a new owner.
