Re: Monkey Mark's Revisited
You can tell by the taste that the meat comes from the same source. I've eaten that exact same ribeye in three different places now. That Pepe dude got one fresh, not frozen he says, so you can get it fresh, although it also tastes the same as one out of the freezer at Samudera. He's aging his 50 days. It is a bit chewy, it does need aging in some way. Good news about Snooky
Re: Monkey Mark's Revisited
I'm tempted to ignore you, but I can't resist. Is the remark about my no. of posts supposed to be an insult or a putdown? You seem to be equating quantity with quality! I've lived here in SHV for 3 years. I could probably get my nos. up to 2147 if I continually repeated myself and reminisced about my glory days and my huge experience in almost everything. I choose not to.Sailorman wrote:Bud: (with a massive 26 posts.) I guess I should stop holding a gun to your head to make you read my posts. Read the title (Monkey Marks Revisited). If you don't want to read what I have to say about Mark's, don't read it. Why don't you start a thread "Snookys Revisited."
I haven't been in Snookys in a long time because the last two times I went there because I was told the steaks were from Thailand and really great. Well, the steaks were terrible, but as I said its been a while.(I then discovered Mark's steaks.) I love it when I see places talked about here that are "just as good" or "steaks from the same provider" as Monkey Marks. Its well known that imitation is the best form of flattery. I don't know Gary and believe none of what I hear and half of what I read (actually none of what I read), that said I've heard some opposite of what you posted, but I d wish him well, and as I said don't know his background or education, but its a tough business with a limited expat population and I hope he can bring a solid background to the table and make it a place as good as Mark's . Its a shame that the "new" road cut into the front Snookys as when I was going there to listen to music and do the quiz it was a nice quiet/cozy place.
I'm all for eating places here trying to bring themselves up to the standards of Mark's place. As I've seen in the food service industry, places that can't meet high standards usually change personnel, or try to reinvent themselves, or go out of business. Yes, a tough business at the best of times. Here's hoping for a killer high season for all.
No one, least of all you, makes me do anything! (Do you have to bring guns up all the time? This is NOT America, thank goodness). I could not read ANY posts, but then what would be the point!
It IS "well known that imitation is the best form of flattery", in the school yard! That's not even applicable in this case. Did Mark invent steaks, or have a patent on cooking them?
And this "I've heard some opposite of what you posted ". Enough innuendo. WTF are you talking about? You just contradicted yourself! Do you believe what you hear, or not? I'd be interested to know your source, but I can guess!
I don't think I need to start a new thread. Like I said, just letting people know there is an alternative. I did compare SNOOKYS to Marks, because he has been the benchmark. You seem to have taken it as a personal attack on Mark (which it could have been, but I choose not). Word of mouth is the best advertisement. So, like you I wish everyone a good high season.
I miss SinnSisamouth and Sailorman. But my aim is getting better!
